Default quickest personal growth

i've been playing iidx for about 2 1/2 months now starting with bmus D:
i started out on 3's and 4's for the first couple of days, and within a week and a half i spiked to 7's and easy 8's (ty snow) and now i just passed my first 11 (love is eternity [a]) last week. whats the biggest jump in skill you guys have accomplished in the least amount of time?

Going from barely able to pass 11s to passing them all in a couple months I guess. You're improving fast, though. Hopefully you don't hit a wall soon ;D

CRH beat V 7k on his first day of playing. But he was kind of a freakish case.

Wow...

I can't say the same for myself. Haha - I was playing 5's in the first 2 weeks of playing, but I hit a wall and gave up for a long time. Then after seeing some kid passing 10's and 11's at BZ in Napperville on the GOLD machine (Dirty of Loudness was SO awesome to watch), I decided to start playing again. I'm back up to 5-6's pretty consistently, with 4-5's when I play random.

I cleared my first 12 within 7 months of playing. However, my timing sucked back then, and it is not much better than it was a few months ago.

I got my first AAA on my 3rd day of playing.

I started playing Sept 11th 2005 and Im at a point where I can pass a few 12s consistently.

Its right after walls that we make those big leaps. I went from having no 12s passed to having 4 passed in a 4 day span. Then I stayed there for months. Then I passed 5 more in a 2 day period.

I do play about every day so you can tell I hit a real wall then make a real leap in skill. Its weird.

I started playing when BMUS came out, but never really got too good at that (I got to the point where I could clear 6s and had a few L7 AAAs, but that's it.) I only played for a few months. I started playing more seriously when Happy Sky came out, as that's when I obtained the necessary equipment to run the JP games. Now, I'm passing a few of the easier 10s and am approaching 100 AAAs. So, slow improvement in general, I guess. However, my timing does seem to have gotten a lot better over the last month or so (oddly enough, both in IIDX and ITG).

I picked up IIDX really quickly, but I think it was because of excessive play on 5-key Beatmanias. Took about a day or so until I started passing around 6* 7K songs.

I agree. I started playing IIDX (US) near the end of last summer and can only now pass most 5's and 6's... but only with a C for 6, a B for 5. I can pass VERY few 7's. I can hardly sight read anything else.

1st big jump: Making the extraordinarily difficult decision to buy 3rd and 4th CS (the reasons for it being extraordinarily difficult already well-chronicled by me in the past)
2nd big jump: Learning the benefit of HS, which happened about a couple months before 8th Style hit the market. No, of course I'm not kidding.
3rd big jump: Clearing Regulus 7K (4 attempts, 80%, 78% twice before that, only time ever I used Random). Gah-freakin'-mahn, baby.
4th big jump: Learning the value of Hard, which to date has allowed me to clear at least four songs I couldn't clear normally in a jillion fillion chillion schpillion years.

Thus leading to stone cold dead solid straight-down-the-middle status, which I've remained at to this day.

1st big jump came when I switched to original screen mode and discovered sudden. Improved my reflexes and timing a bit.

2nd big jump came recently. I started to use random/mirror on songs that were walls for me (Mei, Scorpion Fire) and found myself passing them consitiently (maybe not Scorpion Fire :\) Using random/mirror helped me pass without having to use options (just a lower score). After this, I was able to pass No. 13, Setsugekka, and Rainbow Rainbow [7k]. Might've been I just haven't played 10th style in a while though *shrug*

First started in January 2006. Got 5.1.1 (old) 7 as my first AAA the first day I had it. Granted it took a few tries but yeah.
