My friend has given up on IIDX, so he has given me his copy of 10th and RED CS in the odd chance that I might get around to playing them. The thing is that I have not gotten to go over to any of my friend's houses to play them on their modded PS2, so they are just sitting pretty up in my room serving to purpose other than to mock me of my one playable IIDX game.
My PS2 is the newer slimmer kind (I know theres a name or a term for it, I just can't remember). It's the only working PS2 I have. I tried getting a modded thin PS2, but within a two month period, I had to bring the system back into the shop 4 times, which became more and more of a pain in the ass. After the 5th problem, I just gave up...that and I was broke from paying for most of the fixing (fortunately the first time it was under warrenty). Many sources have said that it is NOT a good idea to modify the newer PS2, but then, and now, the regular sized PS2s were hard to find (in a store that is).
So, right now I'm looking at some information on Swap disks, because I don't know what they are, but I can develope some sort of idea from the name. But this specific version is not compatable with the slim PlayStation. Is...ANY version compatible with my PlayStation? And if not, than do I have other options to play my games?

but good luck with a slim ps2 flip top. im sure someone sells one.

Why buy a tool for it? It's not like Sony really honors their warranties anyway.

Sony's warning label about voiding the warranty is a ploy to keep you from modding them, that's about it. I had several legitimate problems with an unmodified USPS2 (not slim) and they didn't do shit about it. Don't let the warrnaty fear hold you back, it's worthless.

Just go order a swap disc from where ever is the cheapest and you'll be good to go.

Seriously, they're quite reasonably priced if you are willing to refurbish one yourself (or have someone else do it for you). And the prices continue to come down (Play-Asia just dropped their price for a NEW one to $169.99 plus admittedly hefty shipping).
[Completely OT: LOL at Hio's new sig.]

It's not like Sony really honors their warranties anyway. | That's not so easy for the recent models like the one I have, since the gap near the upper-left corner of the lid is now covered by a metal piece, the Twisttool's C piece manages to get down there without breaking anything. Personally, I'd rather have my system intact rather than risking it by breaking small parts of it. But if your inclined to cover up that switch underneath by opening up the system, then you are more than welcome to. Besides, their warranty is only good for like 90 days max.

It says (in bold) that it is compatable with the slim PS2. If it's compatible, there would be no need to modify it, would there?
