Marketplace Rating: 0 | Some help for a one handed player please Ive been playing iidx for a while now and im only up to L7 level 5-6 songs (no i did not know about LISU when i started playing, and i thought you actually just use one hand to play and one hand to scratch) and im choosing to stick with one hand.
There are some songs which are quite easy to beat when one hand including sync because its constant stream, but i found out that with one hand i really really really struggle with songs which have constant "jumps" (im not sure what its called but im calling it in ddr terms, e.g when you have to press 2 buttons, or more at the same time, a few jumps are ok but if theres like a constant stream of jumps in songs like abyss the heavens remix) i find i just cant do it and my hand just freezes.
is there any way i can get better at doing these jumps? ( i know someone is going to just say "practice", but how..?)
did anyone else go through this problem? and if so, how did you solve this?
thanks,

Marketplace Rating: 9 | I guess having a stronger ring finger helps, it's pretty useful when it comes to hitting some awkward key combinations like 1+6 or 2+7
at least it helps me on 14 keys.
Try to hit random keys with your ring finger or use it more often.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | yeh i do try to use all my fingers on my right hand, ive been using my thumb and my ring finger quite often.
i just find it quite daunting seeing lots of chords (thanks for that) come down at me at one time?
do 2handed players get the same fear? or is it just me?
thanks!

Try using your knuckles when the need comes... I find it quite helpful when I press chords like 4-7 with only my right hand, otherwise I'd have to position my hand in an uncomfortable angle...

If you played with this method pollinisis [sic] [a] probably would have been your first 11 clear. Oh, and don't forget to have a camera when you nail the clear.

I play 5 key charts one handed which can somewhat apply to playing 7 key/IIDX one handed a bit. Use your thumb and pinky A LOT. It's probably going to feel awkward but for 7 key charts you need to get over using your pointer and ring finger as your dominant fingers. Don't have any 'dominant' fingers for one handed play, use them all.

thanks, | I've been there, and all I have to say about this is that you just have to keep practicing, as in attempting to play songs that you KNOW you can't pass (please exclude 12's...if you want) and just keep playing...you'll gain experience this way and you'll develop ways to hit those notes. Constant stream and chords can be a killer, but with practice, you will find ways to get them.
Also, just keep playing the game; also play songs on your level that has a decent amount of chords. Practice makes Just Great! =D Quote:

i have never tried to use my nuckles o.O lol but i guess it might help, i shall i try it after i write this post. but doesn't it take too long to switch back from nuckles to fingers?
ok back to my iidx training!
(BTW is anyone else saying "distorted?!" after they played distorted?, its from the music selection screen when you press distorted.... its strangely an addictive sound)

you can try and hit 6 + 7 with the side of your hand plus your pinky. use your pinky for 7 in most cases.
constant chord switching, you really just have to build up your stamina. i know that your thumb will lock up eventually, but i've beaten stuff like quasar [h] with one hand before i switched over, and lisu from back in the days can beat oml [a] so good luck. i suppose its not impossible.

You will have a harder time progressing this way.

"One handedness in Beatmania IIDX games significantly lowers the chances of improving accuracy and skill as players progress to more difficult songs" (Robinson et al., A study about one-handedness in Beatmania IIDX, 2006)
