Total Tokens: 56.79 Donate Tokens | Swap Magic problem I have a brand new set of Swap Magic ver. 3.6 discs, as well as a brand new IIDX DistorteD game.
I load up the Swap Magic DVD, and boot DistorteD.
It appears to work fine, however when playing, sometimes a song's music will cut out midway through. Worse yet, sometimes it'll just downright freeze at the beginning or end of a song.
Also, the same problems plague my new IIDX Happy Sky game. However my IIDX Red works fine.
Any ideas/solutions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
-Spence

But this person is not claiming it to be booting a burned copy of the game. He is merely confused as to why the game messes up so randomly.
With that said, we need a bemani maintenance thread or something.
EDIT: For every time I get a decent idea, I have the sudden instant realization that some jerk on this site will take it too seriously. We do not need a maintenance thread, but it might be a good idea if things like this keep popping up(not that its a bad thing).

Total Tokens: 56.79 Donate Tokens | Thanks for the help so far, I'll have to try the qtip thing. And as for the titles, they are genuine copies/non hax'd. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Edit: Tried cleaning the eye, still not working properly. Also, it seems to really dislike the song LIGHT MOTION, it consistently freezes on that song in particular, along with other random freezes.
Bleh!

I think it may be time for a new playstation 2, my friend.

If it completly crashes and everything stops, somethings is wrong with your disk.
If it just fails to load and keeps trying to read the disk, it's probably your PS2.

The disc is brand new, so I know it's not that. The PS2 isn't very old, maybe 8 months. PS2 doesn't have problems in general. And like I said, IIDX RED works just great, but Happy Sky, and DistorteD are jack'd.

Does the laser still attempt to read the disk or does it completely crash?

As seizuremania said, the problem depends on how the game is loading or crashing. But from your descriptions so far, it's still a bit hard to tell what you mean by "loading." Also, my solution pretty much really applies to whether you also got a fliptop to go along with your swap magic.
When I got my new fliptop and swap disc a year ago, I found out that when choosing certain songs, it will show the screen of the controller/bg movie/score display, but the song will still keep on trying to load and never does. Eventually, I figured out that the problem was the way the fliptop was manufactured. There was actually a piece of wire coming out of its hinge that sometimes interferes with the way the disc spins especially when it changes speed (like when loading songs where the laser had to read the very edge of the disc). A temporary solution was to simply open the fliptop whenever the problematic song is trying to load, then close the fliptop. The permanent solution was to actually cut and file that piece of wire off.
