If the song is still trying load up on the gameplay screen (and failing), the problem probably has to do with the way the disk is spinning. If that's so, open up the fliptop for a few seconds, then close it. There were actually a few others here who tried it, who were successful. If you want a more permanent solution, check your hardware to see if there's anything interfering with the way the disk is spinning.

No kidding. I use the fat ps2 fliptop, thats why I didn't understand. Wow, that's really interesting why a wire would get in the way of gameplay... strange.

In case you're really curious as to how my problem is visualized, think about that coiled wire that's wrapped around the hinge of the fliptop. After the coil, the wire sticks out and was actually long enough to touch the disc .

When the song fails to load, can you change the speed modifier or not?
If not - new IIDX
If yes - new PS2

So, DaveSpen, try opening the fliptop for a few seconds, then close it. If the song doesn't load, then turn the PS2 off and cut off the wire that nilmind described. Only if that doesn't work should you get a new PS2.

I used the tape and tissue mod on my slimline PS2, and was wondering: Is the disc supposed to stop spinning when you open up the tray? I had BMUS in there, and opened it up while it was loading. The disc stopped, but the laser stayed on, and it stopped loading.
Was that supposed to happen?

Was that supposed to happen? | Yeah, it's meant to carry on spinning even when you open the lid. The idea is that the console doesn't detect that you've swapped your disk.
Are you sure you got both the sensors?

Are you sure you got both the sensors? | I used two pieces of duct tape on the internal sensor, and made sure that was pressed down... and I also taped down the tissue.
Erm, which of the two sensors would stop the disc, and which would control the laser? Is the laser the internal or external sensor?
