Default Timing Adjustment Values

I am trying to adjust the timing on DJ Troopers to compensate for my new Plasma's lag. I've searched google and I found that my TV has a response time of 8ms. How many milliseconds does each value of the timing adjustment shift the timing windows? Is 8ms too much to adjust for IIDX?

The best thing you can do is to increase the timing adjustment 1 notch and test it out. repeat this until you find the adjustment that gives you the best response. It really shouldn't be any higher than 1 or 2, especially with a plasma.

Also, play the test song with the highest Hi SPEED setting that you find comfortable. This should help you perceive the timing better.

This is what I did for about an hour. I must have tested each adjustment value at least 5 times, but I still can't figure out which it is. No matter what I do it seems early, and not the usual slightly early I get from a CRT. Somewhere around -2 or -3 felt right at first, but when I turned Hidden+ on, -5 felt closer, but still early. I never felt I had to press late with any of the values. And I've been doing this testing with songs I AAA regularly: Dazzlin' Darlin and Time to Air.

If anyone else has the Panasonic Viera TC-P42X1 42" Plasma, or the TC-P50X1 50", info on this would be hugely appreciated.

Either 0 or -1 will work for this screen. You are going to have to connect your PS2 directly to some PC speakers though as there is audio lag but not video lag.

So I got an LG speaker system. If I connect the PS2 to my TV and then connect the TV to the speaker system with an optical cable, will it eliminate the lag? Or will it still lag because it's going through the TV? If that's the case, I'll just connect it directly to the system.

I use a Yamaha receiver which is connected to a 5.1 speaker system in my room. Connecting the PS2's digital output into the receiver results in noticeable audio lag compared to using the standard RCA connections which are also plugged into the receiver.

I was able to test this with both audio channels being outputted at the same time, and the digital audio was clearly trailing behind creating an echo effect.

Using the RCA port exclusively resulted in much more accurate scorekeeping.

I'm not sure if the same thing will apply to you- Perhaps my audio receiver is just trash.

edit: If it matters, I'm currently using a shitty Westinghouse 32" LCD TV at -2.

I think the echo that you were hearing was the Digital receiver creating the surround effect for the back speakers. What you want to do is set the receiver to output only on the 3 front speakers.

I think I'll test this out later with the Sony Surround sound receiver to attest to this.

I used two sets of speakers on my computer with both being outputted at the same time to confirm this test. There is definetly a noticeable delay from the speakers receiving the digital signal.

Also, my scores on IIDX are noticeably higher when switching the receiver's output from digital to standard RCA.

cmcm also stated in the TV sticky that there is audio lag occuring when the receiver converts signals.
