And after playing 9th/10th for a while and then playing Happy Sky is a nightmare, timing seems quite off...
I suppose it's all opinion though.

I spent a week playing a LOT of Happy Sky, and while i got pretty used to its timing it made the other mixes feel weird when I switched back.

If you turn up hid+ and sud+ you get a ton of goods. I FCd quasar with less than 15 jgs and gs like that.

my friend.
as for Newer IIDX judgement Difficulty
GOLD > DD >RED = 10th > HS
I was by far the worst on HS.

And I thought DD had perfect timing...
Then along came GOLD...
Anyways, the ~ means their position between all three of those styles switch sometimes in my opinion
I haven't played anything pre-RED for a while though so I could be off with the comparison
And yes, HS is THAT bad. I get normal greats like they were passed out as Halloween candy.

Total Tokens: 530,541.83 Donate Tokens | Gold is the best and easiest, by far the most lenient. Also, with green numbers, it's going to be hard to go back and play any earlier style. Konami has spoiled me by giving me the ability to find my green number. Not only is gold's timing lenient, the green number msec horizon value makes it so that I can ensure that I always have a consistent chart speed. This is the ONLY style that I have come within 20-30 ex points of AA No. 13 on Hyper, a song that I would normally force myself to get a scraping B or A on.
DD feels like RED. They are both accurate, but they are also relatively strict. It's possible to get easy AAA's on either style, but you do need to be accurate enough.
HS feels like 9th. They both feel a tad bit early or a tad bit late. They are both weird or inconsistent feeling.
10th is it's own timing it feels. Slightly more accurate than 9th, but not quite as tight as the stuff after it.
8th is pretty on. I don't think it feels late, but then again, I played 8th a TON in the arcade, so my opinion of the CS timing might be a little skewed. I would say, it is adequately challenging enough to get a AAA on the style but with towel, the game gets substantially easier to time.
7th is weird. 7th is so bad to time sometimes. It takes some readjusting to actually get used to the game. It feels a bit early.
6th is also equally as bad. It doesn't help that 6th doesn't have any lane flares, and the colors the lanes get covered with when you press a key and hold it are completely opaque. It can mess with your timing.
5th is garbage only because of inadequate high speed. It feels like a worse 7th style. I never play 5th.
4th is dead on, and 3rd is about as on as 4th is, yet a little buggy because of the video glitch (3rd would sometimes not run at a full 60 frames because of the videos, but if you turned them off, you ensured the game would run always at 60 fps). 4th fixed that, and 4th is pretty much dead on as far as early IIDX styles go.

I find 6th the toughest of 3rd - 6th CS
Happy Sky would be fine if i could set it -1 | |
