Default Top Ranker DVD - Worth a Purchase?

Anyone own one of these? I'm thinking about splurging on Bemani Top Ranker Ketteisen 2006 - anyone recommend? Seems pretty cheapish on play-asia.

Yup, you show go get these DVDs. Heck, now that you mention it, you do remind me of the IIDX Bible DVD I had (hosted by DJ Hameko) which I thought was worth it and still is. In fact, it kinda inspired me a bit back then by watching vids of him as well as of DJ SILV/ANB (who has retired a few years ago). So there, these things are neat.

So yeah, IMHO you should go by one ASAP

Btw, if you are also aware, there is also the Top Ranker 2008 DVD which is newer, so if you have more dough to spend, then why not get both

I've never understood the appeal of DVDs like this. Watching people play video games is generally boring. Watching people play rhythm video games is generally most boring. Can't you just play on auto and get generally the same effect?

I'd find it interesting to see how the true "top" players play on the hardest songs. For instance, recently DOLCE got 1773 57 4 0 1 FC on AA[A], which inspired me to play it a lot more since I can't even AA it.

So yes, I can see a TOPRANKER DVD having appeal.

It makes me set a higher goal for myself when I play DDR, so I can hope to get to their level some day. Plus its unbelievable how good people are at some of the games that its jaw dropping.

The Top Ranker DVD series are filled with rhythm game super humans, I swear. DOLCE in the latest one is just amazing and the fact that you can get multicamera angles is pretty awesome.

But to be fair, I was more impressed by the pop'n music top ranker because holy shit have you seen Lifull play Cyber Flamenco EX and IDM EX like it was nothing? And CODA$ didn't do a bad job on Classical 9 EX either.

Whoa, Lifull also plays PNM? Wow.

So I guess, it's obvious that he was able to apply all of his godly skills into BM IIDX then (like that unbelievable Xenon [a] FULL COMBO video that he did). Crazy dude.

more like LIFULL used beat-pop to get that full combo on Xenon, cause he's the only one that used Beat-pop in the pop'n Top Ranker
