Outlaw- have you done the cotton cloth method? If so, let me know how it worked. That sounds like it could get messy. |
Yeah, I've had to do it on a DJ Dao ASC where the turntable was way too loose without anything in it, and way too tight with the default piece of cardboard in.
I've found that a blend of the two methods worked best for me, to be honest.
By using a thin cloth, and I mean not much thicker than a sheet of paper, I got that good amount of friction that kept my TT from going everywhere. But then I combined one sheet of wax paper on top. That got it perfect. It had the right amount of tightness to keep it from slipping like crazy unintentionally, but the wax paper made it turn smoothly and easily. So at least, for an ASC type controller it works great.
I'm gonna try and play around with it on my old official controller though and see how it works.
EDIT - I also see why the loose TT is a problem for him. When you hit a ton of scratches back and forth, a loose TT works to your advantage. But because of the fact that the TT likes to "hold" that signal for half a second after you hit it combined with the fact that a wax paper or loose TT mod makes it spin even longer.
So basically that's why he can't use the playstyle that he wants where you quickly tap the turntable in only one direction over and over to do a lot of scratches. (A lot of tatsujins do this on the arcade turntables, I've found)
