Default TV-in on my computer for IIDX

I don't have a lot of room in my barracks, so I'm trying to save space by using my PC monitor as output for IIDX. It's a flatscreen LCD ViewSonic, 19", and I think it has pretty decent response time. The response time was 2ms, but I heard this doesn't have much to do with the actual lag.

I understand I'll need a TV-in card and a sound-in card - but what's good as far that goes? What can I use that won't give me much lag? I just want to plug my PS2 into my PC and have it output to my monitor without any delay time. So please recommend a card. Thank you.

DARN! No one posted yet. I know there was a guy here that had a video-in on his card. You want it to go straight through the card, not the computer. If you call a computer store, I'm sure they can help you. That's what I'm planning on doing.

2ms is actually pretty good.

For audio-in, you use a Line-in port on your sound card. It should already have that.

I'm hunting for the same thing. If I find something, I'll let you know.

Using a TV-In card in your PC is going to give you much more than just the monitor's response time in lag. It takes time to take the input signal, process it, display it in a window, etc. and it pretty much results in a moderately laggy music gaming experience.

If you really want to use your monitor, I believe there are adapters to send PS2 video signals directly to a VGA connector, so that may be a better option.

So now I'm trying to find S-Video to VGA input boxes... they all either look crappy, or extremely expensive. I guess I'll spend the money anyhow.

I got a S-Video to VGA adaptor and it does what its supposed to without lag for about $50-60 from Newegg. Unfortunately the products in that price range seem to constantly get replaced or discontinued so the model I got last Christmas isn't sold there anymore. Don't expect a beautiful or ridiculously sharp picture out of an S-Video connection but it's perfectly useable for Bemani games.
