Vanessa, two questions

1.) Is there any known way to get the amazing Vanessa special extra stage background on the Free Mode song select screen like you could with the Scream Squad one in HS?

2.) What exactly is up with the video? Is it just a video or does it react to your playing in some way?

Just so that you know, there's a thread for GOLD CS. Just sayin'.

1. Start + Select after you've earned it in Standard Mode.
2. Yep. Have someone else play it and you'll notice the portrait change its expression.

It's kind of hard to track down info in the CS discussion thread since it's coming up on 150 pages of replies, most of which aren't actually information.

I had tried the start+select thing like in HS but had no luck, and figured it didn't work because I hadn't read about it anywhere. I must have just done it wrong or something, thankyou for confirming for me.

As far as the video goes, is there any information regarding how it changes specifically? I seem to have seen it smiling both when the player is doing well and when the player is doing poorly.

Since I haven't tried it myself, I'm not sure what to tell you, except that maybe you should unlock Vanessa in Standard and play it for good measure before trying it again. If you still have problems, someone else might know why.

I've got the Vanessa ES a couple times and always cleared it, so I'm sure it was just some error on my part with how/when I started holding the buttons down, I'll just mess around with it some more

Regarding the Start + Select thing. . .

Yes, it works. I find it helps to press Select a fraction of a second after pressing Start.

Nothing like seeing THAT background and hearing THAT music. . .right before choosing Beginning of Life.
