So, I am just curious to hear the opinions you have on it since I have only heard one, and that was Happy Sky had a way better song list.

Total Tokens: 2,306.21 Donate Tokens | It's cool. Everything has their ups and downs, but I think the charts in DD are more fun, maybe because I've already "played" (more like hit flimsy buttons and broken turntable) HS AC. But it might end up being like 10th compared to 9th in that I thought 10th was going to be great, but overall it got dull for whatever reason. Well, anything compared to 9th and RED is crap. lol opinions? Things depend on your skill level somewhat, and DD seems like it has a nice chunk of songs I could play again and again. WANA!!

Overall I found the songlist to be pretty average - nothing like the sparkle that was in Happy Sky. The notecharts are a nice twist as well (7-key+turntable note slams anyone? )

I'm a bigger fan of it than most, I would gather. Though most people that said "OMG BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER" when the GST came out later rescinded their remarks, I still think DistorteD's songlist is pretty awesome, all things considered. The Cardinal Gate system is really cool too, I think.

Out of all the songs in the mix, i really like to play about 1/3rd of them. When i hit the arcade, i'll find myself only playing DistorteD exclusives. All cardinal gate songs are money. I just love the fact that so many songs have an unsettling feeling to them. I suppose "DistorteD" is a more than appropriate title for it.
Favorites: Bloody Tears, Ganymede, Contract, Nageki, kagonotori. I better stop, list could go on forever

Total Tokens: 590,705.02 Donate Tokens | Very pleasantly surprised when my arcade got this a few weeks ago. Been playing it a lot since.
The two things that really stand out for me:
1. Hyper (a.k.a. 7 Key) is crazy now. I'm routinely struggling to break 90% on middle-of-the-pack songs with Easy and Autoscratch. I just failed leaving... today. I think it speaks volumes that none of the new songs is lower than a 6. And those are some pretty busy 6's. I cannot overemphasize the importance of the 5 Key option (in addition to those other two things, of course) for anyone who's not a steel-nerved juggernaut at this game.
2. Nobody really wants to admit this, but song for song, this is the fluffiest, brightest, cutest, poppiest new collection ever. Don't even mention Happy Sky; aside from Happy Angel and Poodle, that's more energetic and upbeat than happy. Most of Distorted's songlist could've been handpicked by Rie chan. Probably not a coincidence, as Pop 'n Music is wildly popular right now, so there really isn't any motive to disassociate IIDX from it (never mind the many, many artists who've produced for both franchises). Several very beautiful tunes, too (e.g. Heavenly Sun), and even the "harsh" tracks are considerably more melodic than comparable songs from the past (cf. Tiger Yamato or The Dirty of Loudness to Advance, The Strong Jaeger, or 5PM Eternal).
It's a great Style, and I'm just getting started. I'll try to have comments on individual songs next week.
Oh, and Cardinal Gate was a great idea...putting five super-ridiculous Hyper notecharts under one banner makes it all the easier for me to avoid them.

Any new players getting terrified by DKW's comments, don't worry about it. He's been ranting and raving about the impossibility of IIDX since the dawn of time :P

And yes, the Cardinal Gate songs are hard as all get out, but for the rest of the songs, I'd really say that it's very balanced overall, but who am I to say. I've only played it a couple of times.

Total Tokens: 2,306.21 Donate Tokens | And now, since I've been spending time going through all the OSTs, here is the number of songs I kept for each style!
This is not counting long versions or CS songs. I somehow end up keeping many of the CS songs actually. Maybe because the artists aren't so rushed! Or maybe they are, and it's all just coincidence. Or maybe they only get the best artists. Or maybe a combination of...okay shutting up.
3rd - 6
4th - 9
5th - 15
6th - 12
7th - 12
8th - 18
9th - 22 (this includes the DDR songs....)
10th - 22
Red - 20
Sky - 16
DD - 20 + cardinal gate decision music
Note: 5th through 8th numbers are messed up a bit due to how screwed up Konami was thinking regarding CS songs and whatnot. Just think of them as some Super-Style or something.
So in conclusion: Old IIDX sucks and new is good. And DD is worth mentioning.
...
in my opinion lol
Of course this is nothing in comparison to how many factors make up a whole Style, whether it be AC or CS. You really just have to see for yourself. DD has the most song options, though, if that's a big thing.

The interface looks great, the alternate interfaces for the Cardinal Gate songs is cool and the soundtrack is awesome.
I can't wait till the CS version is announced, CS releases are the only way i get enjoy the newer games where I live.
