Question What electricity thing do I need for JPS2?

I bought a Japan PS2 to play IIDX a few days ago. (online, I don't have it yet.) I was wondering what I need so the system doesn't get overloaded with electricity. Before they were closed, Lik-Sang said you needed some sort of voltage thing so the system wouldn't get fried from too much electricity.

You don't have to worry about anything if you are in the US, but if you are in the UK/EU, you will need a voltage converter, as well as a TV that can display an NTSC signal.

Best to check the back. theres a small note next to the power. If it says 110-120V as a japan ps2 straight out of Japan will your cool in the US. if it says 220-240V then get a step converter - a $30 will do fine

This post may be redundant, but I wanted to point you to NTSC-UK.com's hardware FAQ if you're in the UK. It does a good job of explaining each part of the process of running an import console (the power issue and other things). More applicably, it also has a nice console-by-console chart indicating how much power each draws.

(It also has a nice nuts-and-bolts importer's guide to Japanese elsewhere on the site. But you may not want to deal with that yet. )

If you're in the US, everything will work just fine as-is.
