do that a lot and skills will eventually develop. tendons in your hands will loosen and all your fingers will jackhammer 200 bpm 1/24th notes with unmatched precision.

^This man speaks the truth. I don't know how many times this needs to be said but this man is a sage. You'd do well to listen to him.

just a side note here but I always find it funny how nearly 50% of all IIDX threads end up turned around by someone asking "skills and methods to get better?" - and then it always ends with the iidx vet's claiming that the only way to get better is play and practice.

wait what? i said you have to get kicked in the balls by schoolgirls...were you even reading? maybe that's why you're not a iidx vet. to get better at iidx you need to improve your comprehension skills first

Haha nonono, I wasn't saying your post had anything to do with that. Hence my "side note" comment. : P

-but yeah I've never been kicked in the balls by schoolgirls either.. Maybe it'll get me past the 12 wall. hahaha.

if you have a functional response to the question which cant be reduced to just play and practice please provide it

i think its more like people say that because its the easiest and most concise answer to give and the question comes up every week regardless of how many times its answered so why bother saying anything more than that

also the iidx vets tire of giving any specific advice because

a) different methods work for different people
b) different people have different things they need to improve so there is no single good answer and
c) because they all know that there is no universal magic trick or code or technique or mantra or any bullshit like that which is hidden from the new players that they all could use to get better

do you think lisu or dolce or madek or whoevers name you want to put in this spot was ever told some sort of mysterious secret trick which let them become the great players that they are now

no they werent

i sure as hell wasnt

we played iidx and got better

thats all there is to it and thats all there ever will be to it

to get better at iidx you play iidx

Well, whenever I give advice, most people whine and bitch at me like when I tell someone they should try sticking with random they give me a whole moral bullshit reason why they dont want to use random saying it violates some rule they made up themself. If I tell someone to learn to use their thumb, they give up and say its too hard. It's annoying and an utter waste of time for me to go further in depth with helping others if nobody is going to take my advice. Whats the point? Its easier to tell them to practice and figure everything out themself like I did especially if they aren't going to listen to any suggestion I have.

But I agree with you. If people are going to ask for help, people need to give more information other than what can I do to improve as that's incredibly vague. What level you are at, what speed you read at, what your playstyle is and better, a video of you playing would help much more than simply asking how to get better.

I see "What is a "good" IIDX player? - Page 3 - Bemanistyle [dot] com Forums at the top of the page.

Not How to get "good" at IIDX - Page 3 - Beamnistyle [dot] com Forums

Just saying, everyone, just saying

Agreed. pop'n players are pretty good at listening but IIDX players don't from my experience haha.

All of this is good.

I'd consider a player good once he/she can AAA most 12s on singles and FC at least 95% of the SP game (which honestly isn't very hard, it just takes time and effort). For pass-whores, I'd say you'd have to beat every SP kaiden.

If you wanted to actually impress me or most other decent players like modarius and Velius here, you'd probably have to pass DP kaiden or AAA+HC a few DP 12s. I'd call you incredible if you could FC more than 5 of them.

Jesus Christ dude, the question is, 'what is a "good" IIDX player', not 'What is a Tatsujin'

I don't consider myself good, so I have higher standards than whatever I am currently able to do.

Funny story, I don't.

Just for shits sake what would you say about a player who can only pass 7's but works full-time and goes to school?

You know, just curious if he'd be embarrassingly bad to you or if you'd murder him and rape his corpse or something.

I can full clear mei [a] on DBM with sudden+ and hidden+ at maximum with random and hi-speed 5 without using autoscratch but I don't consider myself good because I usually get a couple misses. This is just my own standard of what good is

also I'm a quadruple amputee and play using only my eyelashes.

I've worked full time and gone to school, and I've got friends and a social life, but I still have time to play IIDX. Someone asked what I think a good IIDX player is, and I answered. Why are you getting angry? If someone was playing 7s and he thought he was better than me, I'd do my best to kick his ass in IIDX, but that's about it.

CG: No hard clear? PSSSHHHH COME ON!
