Assigning subgenres (or styles, which is a different animal entirely) is at best an inexact science, and you're never going to make everyone happy. I personally can name at least four IIDX songs that are more accurately pegged as Trancecore than what Konami actually dubbed them as, and there's seemingly no end to debate over what's "goa" or "drum and bass" or "big beat".
Adding to the confusion is that some of these aren't music subgenres at all, but an event/movement/activity/philosophy/religion/what have you that the music is a part of. New Age. Hula. Hip Hop. Renaissance.
Having seen no shortage of these arguments, I gotta say...why get all worked up about it? These guys have beeing making IIDX for a long time now, can't they have a little fun once in a while? |
