Default What's a better progression goal? - Grade A or Full Clear?

Just another opinion topic. I've currently been blasting through L5's and some L6's in RED, and if I need a break, I'll go back and try to FC L3-4's. I'm currently stuck on not being able to RC Inori and Golden Horn.
When you pro's start a new style, what is your normal progression goal while playing? Hard clear? Grade A+? Full clear?
I usually go for hard clear, then grade A, then full clear. I'm NOWHERE near good enough to PC songs yet, although 5.1.1 would be easy without that STUPID 5-6-5-6 crap at the beginning!

I mostly, uh, concentrate on regular-clearing things. Hard clearing is cool too I guess but I don't worry about that too much. Raising grades are also nice but I concentrate on new clears above everything else, really. If I see an uncleared song on my songlist, I'm all over that like white on rice.

once i get a new style, i just go thru the whole songlist, clearing as many songs as possible. after ive played everyhting i try to imrpove on grade. i dont care about hard clearing or FC.

i generally try to get an A or AA before i go into special clearing types. full combo is the only thing i dont directly go after, for me if a full combo happens it just happens.

i do enjoy hard clearing though, it helps you emphasize more on a specific part of a song that is freakin hard, that you otherwise could pass just by building up your percent until the end.

Going for FCs is pretty pointless because there's far too many parts with a single stupid part that you won't FC if you play it a hundred times. You should definitely work on getting at least an A on everything that you can clear though, unless it's something that you can just barely clear. Hard clears are good ways to check your progress on a song, but obsessing over hard clearing everything is more of a diversion than an important task. (Also, don't forget that hard clearing can be a useful tool for some songs that are actually easier to hard clear than normal clear!)

I would focus on clearing, then hard clearing, then getting an A, then full comboing, then getting a AA, then perfect comboing.

My goal right now :

Pass - A - Full Combo - AA - AAA (Very few of the last two)

I can pass most 6's, and A about 80% of them 7's are about 50 percent, etc

When I start a new style I tend to put it on Hard, start with the [a] songs and go from there. If I hit a song that I can't pass on Hard then I'll take it off and beat it normally (if I can). After I get that done I go for score and FC / PC.

Obviously, not many of us here can fall into that category >_>

I myself don't pay attention much to anything other than clearing, and barely use hard at all.

But I will hate myself if I get a C under most circumstances, but I fnd that doesn't really happen as often as you get to know songs better. in fact, A's come pretty easily, even when you can't clear the song after a point. But then I'm sure it drops again when you hit 12s.

I'm not good with accuracy, so I just aim for the clear and a couple of AA and AAA just to unlock pictures for the gallery. I usually replay songs after to see if I can improve the grade.

go for the letter grade pc is pointless imo because you can pc a song and still get an e if your timing sucks as for hard clearing i only use it as a tool for getting aa's or aaa's

I personally don't try to go for full combo, because you can BS all the way through with Goods and get a terrible score. Concentrating more on getting JGs is much more reliable of a goal, I'm not saying I'm not caring about missing or anything, but tons of songs out there are made to break combos pretty easy.

Full combos come to me mostly by luck, it's a cool bonus for me sometimes. I'd rather concentrate on the letter grades more, as they represent how i played much better than combo count does.

FCs and PCs aren't something I shoot for; if they happen, then cool, but it's not something I really try for. When I get a new style, the first thing I usually do after popping it in is to play through all the dan courses (starting from 7kyu, to unlock the images) until I fail one, and then go to free mode and just start playing whatever comes to mind. I have hard on all the time unless I'm playing an 11, since there aren't all that many 10s that I can't hard clear; I figure I might as well just try. If I can't hard clear it in a try or two, I just do it normally. Once I've gone around and played all the songs I was excited about, I generally buckle down and go for AAAs.
