and whoever said that Americans potentially liked ddr alot, i find difficult to believe. It seems most people see ddr as either that "gay dancing game" or a way to look silly.

This. American pop culture has depicted Techno and Jpop as being for the mentally challenged, so the general teenage public does not play ddr beyond trying to mock the game, and it has already completely rejected beatmania (see: xplay)

Most of the IIDX players I see here are a bunch of Gold Rush-worshipping Auto-Scratchers that couldn't scratch to Dreamin' Sun[H] if their lives depended on it. Since IIDX is hard to truly master, I can't see too many Americans picking it up. . .

Well to be fair, IIDX has a couple 'noob' songs like DDR (a la Golden Sky, Butterfly) and auto-scratch IS an option. IIDX also has one of the hardest learning curves in the Bemani series.

You mean like how Xplay did a review of Para Para Paradise years after it was released and said only gay nerds would ever play it?

This is one of the things that makes me not like America... well... not all of America but I just mean the media and stuff like that.

I see people who are all "OMG GUITAR HERO AND ROCK BAND ARE SO COOL!" and then it's just irritating.

So... yeah, Konami would have to come out with a new music game and put mainstream songs in it and stuff....

But they are cool.

Which one would you pick if you were the type to follow the status quo? The guitar/band simulation game with songs you know, and the type of game you can excel at fairly quickly? Or would you rather pick the game that is suppose to be DJ simulation, but actually has nothing to do with being a DJ, packed with songs from halfway across the world, and will require you to dedicate a lot of time to get to the harder difficulties?

Are you one of those types of people who think Guitar Hero has mainstream popularity for reasons beyond pretending you're playing already popular songs?
Actually, no they didn't, they didn't market it at all, and the only major review that they got just mocked the game because they didn't understand how to play it. It was such a sad campaign, its no surprise that it didn't do well. On the other hand, Konami was still surprised by the sales figures because it still did better than they assumed it would. Maybe that was artificially inflated though by actual fans of the game buying the bundle for the cheap (read: inexpensive) controller.

Yeah I didn't even know it existed for a good year. I've never seen it in stores, seen commercials for it, or even heard of it. I heard of IIDX first. I think they need to market it more, definitely.
