i can AA some songs on the LCD, and sometimes i can't even tell the difference. AAA'ers could probably tell the difference, so its up to them.

I think Ken can use the LCD TV to build another HD cabinet probably. If ken buys Melty and puts it on the LCD, that'd be SWEET. or Deathsmiles 2...

I didn't think it was too bad from yesterday (Sunday) when I was playing doubles, besides the fact that songs were going off-sync way too many times.

And failing Narcissus at Oasis DP [h] for missing a note.

I also bought AI's 37" LCD TV and did tests of my own...

The LCD on the notebook is running a 30 fps timecode in 640x480@60

the TV is getting the same signal through VGA.

so as you can see, the TV is lagging behind 1 frame in 30fps-timecode; which is really 2 frames on a 60hz display.

so there you go, 2 frames, with proof!



So Display Type A, is regular timing, the machine doesnt compensate for any lag...
We should give Type B a second try...

I'm no expert, but its not unconsistent; its 2 frames exactly. It can be something we can get used to...

On the bright side- Response Time seems very good, like around 3ms.

on the day the lcd was put on 2 days ago, i tested the timing and it seemed to be pretty close with the music on display type B. it went offsync but vga connection solved that problem.

i went home and played a bit that night. came back to AI last night and i was doing good attacks like an idiot. tried getting used to the timing but it's very discouraging. basically i have to go back and forth between AI and home fixing my timing and not getting any good scores.

the lcd upgrade was done so that both regulars and random newcomers would be happy... but at this rate it'll attract one-time players (that only wanna play the game since it's pretty) at the cost of losing the competitive players.

if anything, the old crt should come back... the game will attract the same kind of newcomers anyway. i just feel really bad cuz i stuck around and tried to help the lcd get set up as much as i could. =/

This thread pisses me off. Everyone's attitude (minus like one or 2 people) since the new monitor came in or since I said Empress was coming soon has been absolute shit. You're all being selfish.

How the fuck do you expect Ken to be able to afford to make the machine better when the machine makes no money. As I told several of you at AI last week, Super Arcade's IIDX setup makes more money than AI's. What the fuck is that? I understand you wanting to be able to play to the best of your ability, but Ken changes one thing trying to make everyone happy and all you guys do is bitch. Have any of you tried to help him find a solution besides Johann that isn't "put the old CRT back"?

As for Empress, there was a shipping error. The kit will arrive when it arrives. Constant text messages and nagging from people here on the forum won't make it come any faster. When I have updates on stuff I'll post them here.

Some of us were discussing a solution sunday night when we went to eat. Forgot who brought it up, but they said the 37" Sony XBR 960/970 would be a perfect replacement screen. I've been searching for one of those sony xbr's but the closest I've found was a 34". No one seems to have a 37" in the 960 or 970 model :\

Edit: We also discussed getting the screen out of our own pockets for ken.
