.___.

Golds timing is actually later than happy sky's timing was... And AI's screen doesn't add any sort of lag/delay to IIDX.

From what I can tell they've all been on time. Except for when they first got DistorteD and it sped up and slowed down during some of the songs...boy was that fun. It's like every song had it's own BPM change.

From our machine at TGA, it's certainly on time.

Then there's something wrong with our screen because there is no way that the timing at AI is on.

I can hear the music before I visually should hit, so it's obviously the screens fault for being off.

TGA's machine is the USA "test location". Their version was compiled after the timing patch was released through e-amuse for japanese machines, so the timing for them is identical to CS versions of beatmania. The gold kit at AI was a brand new kit, and can not and has not recieved the timing patch to update the timing, so the timing is similar to distorted except for the fact that you have to hit a bit later than you did on distorted. (The timing window moved a bit.. think of it as playing RED CS and then playing Happy sky CS, you will notice a difference. There is no delay or anything like that.) T

he timing is fine for how it is without the patch, and the screen at AI has nothing to do with anything involving timing because it has no delay/lag issues.. so stop blaming your troubles on the screen.

i agree with above post. blue notes may turn green but that doesn't change the timing.

oh and now AI's gonna strictly enforce the closing time.

Psh, AI's screen totally does lag err...proper timing on gold or not, the monitor in itself does throw me off because of the discoloration and it also breaks focus. It might seem why the timing is off as a whole, honestly another issue I have is the sound system. Theres a subwoofer in the back of ai's machine and honestly I feel like the bass drowns out the other sound and makes things seem laggy as a result. Either way theres always something to bitch about. No matter how you look at it, when you're playing at home it's consistent. On the other hand 38648264 things can alter your playing experience and judgement at the arcade...I need to shave a lot and I feel like eating fajitas. I also might show up tomorrow sometime during the day.

Well now that I know more info instead of just "It's not the screen", I can agree with you

i also felt that the scroll speed was a bit different, but i think it could also just be me 'cuz i kept lowering my sudden+ every time i tried the same song... and it just felt faster and faster... anyway gold is very friendly to me right now ;]

About IIDX Gold. The timing I finally got used to. You just have to play for a little bit then you start hitting notes properly. And if this patch that came out in Japan and the US Test machine is almost like CS version quality timing. There comes to show how they really wanted to make IIDX AC's as good as CS's timing. I think there was talk about this a while back and I got beat down by being told Konami doesn't care much for there CS releases. MY ASS! Those are there biggest money makers right there. It's what sorta keeping beatmania alive, but for some reason each release for CS sales keep dropping, but distributors over seas keep buying them by the loads. So Konami is still making a profit. All they have to do is lower their quantities if they feel they won't sell much. But like I said they know what they are doing that's why beatmaniaIIDX 15 is coming. There are a lot of beatmania players everywhere, more then know.

Oh and the screen at AI just takes about a LONG time to get used to. But none the less is does throw you off every now and then. Wish I could see some blue in there. Vibrant colors does help your playing style.

i like the self-contradiction there.

just who are these distributors? do you say this just because play-asia and himeyashop DO carry iidx CS versions? if there's anything different from the 3-year break between 6th and 7th CS than now, the CS versions come with a lot of extras that are incentives for people to actually want to own the game.

iidx is a niche game and of course there will always be people who play the game as long as it keeps coming out. it doesnt mean they're making great enough profits on CS releases that they'd actually like to make AC releases "like" CS. think about it this way. i preordered the DD LE for $102 sans shipping. i probably spent something like $1000 on iidx at AI in my 1 1/2 years of playing there. i'd like to try and remember how many times i pulled out $20 bills to get tokens but whatever. hypothetically in a normal arcade (AI's a special case, from what i hear it doesn't make enough) with music games like iidx and regulars like me, they'd have more than enough to upgrade to the next version -- which konami will profit off of since those arcades will buy new kits, plus if it were in japan or select countries with e-amuse, konami is making even more off of their subscription.

konami changing gold's timing into CS timing doesn't mean they like the CS versions better in any way. if it says anything, they wanted to make the game easier to get good scores on so more people would play at the arcades and not be discouraged by people who are 320583014930491x times better than them. thanks to that now tatsujins have 20 greats on stuff like poodle, and so it really didnt change anything about beginners not wanting to play.

1p side is not as bad as the 2p side at least. and um, if vibrant colors help your playing style, try playing happy sky CS on pop'n skin.

no more with "AI's monitor is affecting my performance". we should be pouring our tokens in the machine and helping ken out, not try to make him cave in to buying a new monitor that's not entirely necessary, esp for its cost.

that's all folks. catch me at AI playing gold.

p.s. any update on the pop'n token slot? if i remember correctly, it was still taped shut on friday.
