So, I play IIDX at home with a controller I got from the american release of beatmania.
Lately I've spent some time hassling the owners of Nickel City in Carmel Mountain and La Bella's Cafe in downtown Chula Vista (I kinda live in between both) to get a IIDX machine.
I've been wanting to see a IIDX machine in San Diego ever since Golden Token went down. I talked with the owner of the Nickel City and said that they tried to buy their IIDX before the arcade closed but the owner refused. La Bella's seems interested; I talked to one of the workers there (who happens to be a buddy of mine) and he said he'd talk to the owner and see what's up. Last time I tried that we ended up getting a PIU NX FX cabinet.
These two places seem like good candidates to get a machine in, especially Nickel City since they already host the best beatmania machine in San Diego County (unless someone has a private one), which happens to be a beatmaniaIII append 6th (which is like a no-no ), and the owner was already previously interested. When I talked to him he still entertained the idea but he said he didn't know anyone that was selling one.
If anyone has any information or ideas to convince these owners to pursue getting a IIDX, bring them out! I think now's our chance to get a IIDX machine in San Diego!

that means no more ParaParaMan either! | Try getting a hold of super arcade. They don't really maintain their machine, and maybe the owner might make a deal with you.

I'm glad you liked La Bella's. they've been in expansion recently; it used to only be the pizza garden and now it's the old restaurant and the cafe & games section with the arcade and pool tables. it's usually a heavy traffic hangout spot in chula vista on the weekend afternoon-evening time, so it would also be a good place to recruit newcomers to play, I believe.
at any rate, I had sent an e-mail to the owner of nickel city and yet I've received no reply. I will try e-mailing him again within a week to let some time fly by. I also have not heard from my friend at La Bella's just yet. so, I'm kinda on some down time...

Total Tokens: 606.21 Donate Tokens | I really doubt the owner of a nickel city will want to drop thousands of dollars on a machine that is not only very expensive to obtain, but expensive to maintain as well. I seriously would hate to see a IIDX machine in any type of nickel nickel. The machine would get destroyed instantly by "bros" trying to be funny for their friends and fucking with the machine, or little kids being themselves and ruining the machine that way.
You're much better off to spend your own money and buy the home versions of the game. Even if an arcade in San Diego magically gets a IIDX machine, it will most likely be an older style with an unplayable horrible monitor. (Just like the last two machines that have been in San Diego.)
