Japane Arcade at Little Tokyo, LA

So, anyone go there recently? I'm gonna be going on a trip to Little Tokyo, but the last time I went, the DM 10th machine had a broken cymbal...

I heard the place is crapy and everything is broken there. I haven't been down there yet.

I was down there like two weeks ago. They have a BMIII 7th which seems to work fine (on 2p anyways) but i didnt play any gf/dm while i was there.

They got GF11 / DM10 and it works fine, at least the last time I was there about a week ago. The only thing I don't like about DM is that the snare is kind of worn so you can see the metal pad underneath it, near the center, but otherwise the pads are okay. At this place, nobody is really good at either of these games (come to think of it, there's not many people really good at these games at most local arcades around here anyways). You'll occasionally see some beginner or first-timer playing, IF anyone is even playing that is, at Japan Arcade.

One thing about this place is that sometimes it's *really* dead. Only on Fridays and Saturdays is it really busy. It's not a sleazy place though, if something eats your tokens, tell the guy who works there and you'll get your money (token) back. I don't see legions of broken machines, they try to keep things in good working order. If a machine is busted, tell the guy working here and it usually gets fixed in a day or two (or it gets fixed right away if the owner is there).

On a side note, the guy who owns this place also owns Super Arcade in Walnut. You can use the same tokens at either arcade and you can even use AI tokens interchangeably and vice-versa. They probably don't like that, but oh well

Speaking of the owner, he's pretty nice and I talk to him occasionally. I asked him about the prospects of getting newer GF/DM mixes and he sadly said no. He says they're way too expensive for him and it's difficult, at Japan Arcade, to make any return on it. Super Arcade, on the other hand, he tells me has *great* business, especially during school hours as it's across the street from Mt. SAC.

Yeah, really and just 'cause an arcade is across from a school *doesn't* mean it always does well. Remember Pac Man arcade? There was also another arcade across from PCC, and they both died.

I too wonder into Japan Arcade sometimes when I'm own and then rethink if I should go to college...

I am the best DM player at Japan Arcade whenever Richard isn't there. Mm, the GF machine sound is kinda configured wierdly. The Dm machine sometimes has problems 50% of the time I go there but I blame that on pad smashers as there are a lot over there.

I guess I kinda like Japan arcade cuz thats the only place I can play Super shomin car on GF. Its one of my favorite songs on GF

Been here like two times, but only at DDR Extreme game play..

DDR seems to be fine, but never played GF or DM...

It's since a long time i've been there.. ^^; (Arcade Infinity is still #1 becuase this place has a Pop'n machine!!!)

I don't enjoy either the GF or DM machines, though, since every time I go there, one of them is really sketchy and either doesn't responds or echoes notes (GF).

Went there on Thursday. DM Hi-hat blows. Tried one of those hi-hat spamming songs, didn't even pick up have the hits, even when using both sticks. Works fine for hi-hat easy songs. Friend tried GF 1P side, said the guitar was funky.

Taiko 1P drum has a good amount of dead spots too.

So fcuk that.

At least KBM and Hokuto No Ken worked XD

I guess I'm the best local guy here when other random friggin good DM players don't show up. Which is kinda sad. Come on guys, school and work ain't that important. Musical arcade games is where it's at.

Anywho, does anyone know if they still have last blade 2 somewhere in there?

That could be me.I was there when the bag was on the BMIII machine but i dont own any orange shirts.(i think i wore a red shirt that day)
