Default Riptide Arcade Thread

I figured that a thread about it was never made, so may as well make it. I've made it a habit recently to take BART over to RTA and practice my Gf/dm and plug in some random high scores on the SN machine.

Other people who go here, post plz.

I believe you might've met my roommate, Eric. He works down there. Yeah, RTA is alright, I don't play dancing games anymore and I have GF&DM V at SF State (roughly a 5 minute walk from where I live,) so I don't head down there anymore. If you ever want a change of scenery, PM me or hit me up on AIM for my number. We also have a good Street Fighter community here and a decent Beatmania III 7th Mix if that's your thing.

I go there pretty often. It's at a convenient location for me.

I'm gonna be in SF for a couple of days for a conference in August. Might try and get out and check out some of the local arcades - I'm a DM player exclusively. Is Riptide the best one if I'm going to mostly around downtown? How's the DM machine condition?

(I'm from Vancouver where we have, uh, four arcades with V3. Yeah, we're spoiled :>).

Riptide is the only place in San Francisco with Drummania from what I can remember, and it's V machine (sorry to disappoint you). It's in fairly good condition, if you don't count the hi-hat that pretty much falling off, although I hear the machine may be upgraded/replaced sometime.

the gdamania machine locations database also lists a machine at san francisco state university, though I dunno where that is in relation to S.F. proper

V is fine, just as long as the condition is okay. doesn't matter if the hi-hat's falling off so long as it *registers*, heh (but why would it be falling off anyway? all you need to secure it is a few standard cross-head screws...)

thanks for the info.

A few of which nobody has. It registers fine anyways, just gotta make sure to put it back in place if it moves a lot during play.

Went yesterday, the hi-hat seems to be fairly fixed except that the rubber cover can fall off at times if not properly secured. I managed to S Concertino EXT on it, so it can't be all bad. Although personally, I think it needs lower chairs/stools.

Just a small tidbit, The San Francisco State is located near Daily City (Southwest of Downtown.) The machine there is in better shape then the one at Riptide. But because it's summer school, the Arcade has weird hours (closes at 4 or 5 some times.) But the pads are much more bouncy and secure and the stool is much much better. But it's $1 for 3 songs there rather then RIptides 4 songs for a dollar.

So Arch. Have you gotten close to S'ing (or A'ing) any of the DDs yet?
