Chango was basically one of the best things to happen to the old school freestyle scene in his own way. Most of his old routines were the kind of stuff that kids in the midwest used to talk about all the time in like 2001.
I'm not going to lie, I was kinda surprised to see TCL jump back into the scene last year. I lived in CA from 2004-2007 and aside from running into Chango and Nvision at E3 in 2005, and meeting Amy, Axe, Sabishi and Strider at AI a few times I never saw too many of the old school players. I'd run into Peter and Bobby every so often, and used to hang out with Ryan, Minh, Scott and them a good amount. It just seemed like everything died off, which is pretty understandable given how long the games have been around and whatnot.
Either way, it's pretty killer to see you guys are still into it enough to pop up at location tests and whatnot. It'd have been nice to actually get to meet you guys, Tommie was always telling me stories when he'd get back to Michigan and you all sound chill as fuck.
One of the reps asked me if I knew the guy (TCL) and I told him I had no idea who he was. I really didn't.
He asked me because TCL was hitting the uBeat machine like an idiot and yelling (obviously as you have heard), so it was really awkward and a bit embarrassing.
Today was fun. My friend got to be the first person to play uBeat and he isn't even a Bemani player, haha.
oh yeah and i was the short guy in the white shirt
I was there from like 6:45 until closing. I had a pretty good time, uBeat is fun but I still prefer IIDX over it. DDR X...well it's just a prettier DDR, still cool though.
Was there earlier rather surprised by the outcome, good times though. I'll probably be back Wednesday night and definitely up for hanging out/dinner afterwards.
I'm going to cross-post here and at the DDR forums:
Tell them to make the announcer shut up and make less corny one-liners.
Also, it looks odd to have the FC splash happen at the last note, rather than AFTER them. In the linked video at the DDR forums, I'm wondering what'll happen if the person playing let go of the freezes when this happens.
