Marketplace Rating: 2 | Tell Graham that he doesn't have to call Stan everytime there's a coin error. Let him know he just needs to unplug the machine and plug it back in, that's pretty simple. Since he unplugs the machine anyways. This also saves Ah Fai from having to drive to Metrotown every other day to restart the machine, if it's not a money collection day.

So technically he could do no more than you or I could. So when someone tells him something is wrong he calls stan to come fix it cause he has the keys. | Was news to me when I heard it as well. What isn't news, however, is the fact that he doesn't do anything about it immediately: he doesn't put a sign explaining that the machine's out of order, and is downright rude to his customers. Even McDicks employees get reprimanded when they mouth off at customers, regardless of the kind of day they've had. The fact that he's the owner/manager of the place tells you something about their policy w/ regards to promotion and PR. Hopefully you know a different side of him, being that you're an ex-employee, as that might explain why you're so eager to come to his defense. I can't find any other possible reason unless he gives you preferential treatment; either way you're entitled to your opinions, as I am mine.

He could just told me that he doesn't own the machine and has no idea how to fix the problem, it's understandable.
However, what he did to me was saying thoses things i mentioned before, and gave me the cold shoulder.
Once I find out the problem about the machine, who do you think I can ask help for? It's the owner, of course.
I did know that he doesn't own these machinese, but I was just wondering that if he could get somebody to help and fix the problem.
However, he responsed to me with such a bad attitude even though I wasn't finish talking.
After that he just walked away and left me in the front desk.
As being a customer, I really feel bad about his attitude.
He might be smart, but what his attitude toward the customers was just inappropriate, and this is what I think the most important thing that he needs to learn.
Also, if I change the word "manager" to "customer service", will it make more reasonable?
In my country, store's owner and manager is usually different. I can go to see the manager and complain about the "owner's attitude in CHQ"
Maybe my English isn't good enough to express, and this is what I really mean.
I just want to play IIDX and pop'n music, and make some friends during the time I'm studying abroad

Marketplace Rating: 0 | dmfever: CHQ is an independent arcade. It's not a chain. It's just a single business. It's like...a corner grocery store, or something.
Graham owns it. He flat out owns the business (of course he doesn't own the *location*, he rents it from Metrotown like everyone else). If you go to a corner grocery store and the owner doesn't like you...you can't go complain to 'customer service', right? It's not like if it were a supermarket chain. Same deal with CHQ. Graham owns CHQ, the entire kit and caboodle. We're not using 'owner' as a word to mean 'guy who runs the place', or something - we literally mean he 'owns' it, like you 'own' your Playstation or something like that.

Aeiryu you probablly think I'm a big asshole based on that thread in the beatmania forums and now this but I want to get to know the bemani players and you are right in what you're trying to get across, so I apologize.
In the beatmania case that was my girlfriend and in this case I've known Graham for yeaaaaaaaaaaars. Maybe my judgement gets clouded.
There was a facebook group of kids that hated Graham, there was a ms paint of a picture of graham getting stabbed by a knife, and I managed to get the group gone. He doesn't deserve that kind of resentment.
But Graham can behave kind of oddly. Once when I was working at chq behind the register I had my coffee on the counter and I spilled a little and Graham laughed like it was Okay. Then like on the weekend I had coffee there and he was like "Put the fucking coffee away or I'll dump it down the sink!"
Haha, so that's Graham for you. I can put up with alot of it because I really really like CHQ. The environment and the games. I honestly love when that place is crowded with people. I used to get HUGE crowds when the Pump it up machine was reasonably close to the entrance.

But this business is a little different in alot of ways. The person that actually bought the business is the one that works to keep it going, so you can't really get him in trouble for his attitude short of him losing your business.
So yeah, sorry for what I said!

IF THERE IS A COIN ERROR:
Unplug the power cord
Wait 10 seconds
Plug power cord back in
and tape it to the machine and on the wall near the power for the machine?
i will go back to minding my own business now, haha

i will go back to minding my own business now, haha | A lot of little kids go there. They might accidentally pull the monitor cable or something. Doesn't matter, they are not going to want to play it that bad anyways. Theres 4 or 5 regulars that go. As long as we all know what to do, then it should be fine. Also if your unsure, like i've already said go straight to the asian attendant with the orange-ish hair (not the guy with the beard). He is always walking around and he knows how to reset the machine.

| Like I said before, you probably think differently about Graham because you see a different side of him he doesn't show to other people. It would probably help him turn more patrons into regulars if he were to show this side to them on a more constant basis, but any point I make is moot, since he doesn't read these forums. Besides, as Adam pointed out, Graham owns the joint, so he's free to run the business as he sees fit.
I don't like CHQ because there isn't enough walking space. Because of this, when there's lots of people the arcade gets unbearingly hot. I also don't like CHQ because the machines aren't very well maintained -- this is understandable, given the fact that a lot of people don't give a shit about the next guy and pound on the equipment. Worst of all, CHQ closes at 10pm; again, probably something Graham has no control over.
Maybe I can call CHQ more of a home if there were more events held there. It just doesn't feel "comfortable" there for me.
Also, lol @ the guy I saw playing THE WORLD autopick on ADV then EXT

Eminem:"Hey your pretty crazy at that (beatmania), do you play that guitar (Guitarfreaks) thing?"
Me:"Yeah, a little".
Him:"At home on my XBOXTHREESIXTY I play guitar hero on expert, I'm really good. Play me."
Me:" Well, ok."
Him:"Omg lol, three buttons(direct quote). This is probably really hard right.
Me:"Well yeah, theres a timing window and you have to hold down every key, you can't hammer on or pull off."
Him:"Whatever, let me pick this random crappy song that you've never played before, I'm gonna win."
And you get where this is going.. hahaha. Suffice to say he failed everything, bu he actually was pretty nice, and complimented me on my ability. I was expecting him to be like those Amerikkka fags from the Guitarhero boards. Still was the highlight of my day though. YAY CANADA.
Also, I tried to get Grahams attention to get change for a 20, just like aeriyu, but he ignored me so I had to get 20 loonies. clinkclinkclink.

I totally understand where this is going. I live near 2 arcades in Southern California, Super Arcade, and Arcade Infinity.
Super Arcade doesn't give a crap if a button isn't working. The old dude who works there gives terrible attitudes to his customers if he can't fix it. This arcade has a bad reputation.
However there is another arcade called Arcade Infinity being run by 1 guy. This arcade has a working Troopers machine, Pop n Party, DMV5 etc. He built his own SFIV HD megalo cabinet with his own hand, and he actually cares about maintaining the machines. He would go out of his way when he's off of work just to fix a button and go back home. On top of that he cares about the regulars who always come back. This is how much he cares for his business. Not trying to rub it in but any business man should have this attitude.
What dmfever is concerned is the attitude of the owner/manager or whatever the hell it is. I would change my attitude if I were the owner of this arcade. And I don't see the big deal in giving people change for a 20 either.
