Hello everyone,

I am going to be staying in Brooklyn for a week, and I am really excited to go to 8otb! However, my friend doesn't have a car, so I would need to take public transit. It's only 25 miles away so I figure it won't be too bad. I have never been to the east coast, so can one of you living in NY or NJ help me out with which route[s] I would take in order to get to 8otb from Brooklyn?

Thanks in advance.

8 on the break is actually literally across the street from the Dunellen train station on the Raritan Valley line. That line doesn't start in New York Penn, It starts in Newark Penn, so you you're going to have to get there, I think its a 2 dollar transfer, then its a few bucks to get from Newark Penn to Dunellen. Might take as long as an hour though (each direction).

PM Me if you need any more help with NJ Transit.

NJ Transit is very easy to use, so I doubt you will have any problems. Make sure you talk to the guards walking the aisles and you read the boards/ask people around which lines you should take.

That is my main mode of transportation minus buses whenever Im in NJ =)

In case you're not aware, you'll want to catch NJ Transit at New York Penn Station, which is located in Manhattan between 32nd & 34th streets and 7th & 8th aves. The 33rd st and 7th ave entrance is the easiest way to get to the NJ Transit concourse.

Once you get off at Newark, go to track 5 which is where the Raritan Valley trains typically depart from and take it to Dunellen, as mentioned before, The Break is across the street.

Also you'll want to buy your ticket in the station as there's a $5 surcharge if you buy it on the train - you'll probably want offpeak round trip.

I think the last train from Dunellen towards NYC is usually at midnight.
