INTRODUCTION:

If you clicked this thread, no, you are NOT going crazy. Due to the HUGE turnout of my previous tournament and the ridiculously large amount of interest there is of these tournaments, I have decided to hold my 4th tournament THIS SOON. I'm pretty much setting this in stone right now for the following reasons.
-You can clear your schedules pretty early if you can.
-If you're planning a tournament of your own, there won't be as much confusion and confliction between dates.
-As for this date, I understand AnimeNext is the weekend before and 4th of July weekend is the weekend after. Also, it is the best date I could come up with that wasn't too close to Champions of the Coast while still being during people's summer vacations from school.

That's pretty much all I have for that. Now for the rules. If you attended my last tournament, they're pretty much the same with a couple of very minor changes. The main difference is that there WILL BE BETTER songs that are SIGHTREAD FRIENDLY. I found this out the hard way that putting excessive stops in songs are a bad idea, so I drilled this into my head as well as the artists I have stepping songs for me. I just wanted to clear that up. Ok, here is the info.

THE RULES:

-Basically, this is a sightreading round-robin-style tournament consisting of unreleased custom songs/charts that will be made by me and VARIOUS others. Nobody will see them until the day of the tournament.

-There is no limit to the people who can enter.

-After you play your song, PLEASE move away from the machine until I get the scores down. More importantly, DO NOT PRESS THE BUTTON AND CLEAR THE RESULTS SCREEN UNTIL I SAY SO. If that happens and I can't get the scores, I will have no choice to DQ you. I don't want to do that to anybody, so please don't do any of that.

- Round 1 = 2 songs. (one 8 and 9 block song). I’m cutting the first two rounds to two songs each since these are the slowest rounds.
- Round 2 = 2 songs. (one 9 and 10 block song).
- Round 3 = 3 songs. (one 9, 10, and 11 block song). I’m raising it to three songs here and keeping it at three for the rest of the tournament to make up for the lack of songs in rounds 1 and 2.
- Round 4 = 3 songs. (one 10, 11, and 12 block song).
- Round 5 = 3 songs. (one 9, 11, and 13 block song).
- Final Round = 3 songs. (one 10, 12, and 13 block song).
- Total songs used: 16. This lasted about 6 and 1/2 hours even WITH the pad roadblock I had, among other roadblocks. I had 25 entrees as well. So it will DEFINITELY not take too long.

-The following mods/type of mods are the ONLY mods allowed:
Speed Mods
Persective Mods (hallway, overhead, etc etc)
Note Skin Mods
Mini

-All competitors will be allowed to watch while others play.

-The song title and artist will be BLANK, so the only things you will see are the BPM and the difficulty of the song. This is to sort of try to block out knowing what you'll be expecting beforehand (if you know the song title, that is), along with adding more suspense to the crowd. The songs will most likely be ADDED ONTO THE MACHINE before the start of the tournament so everything is already there, and that I could save time. The songs and artists will also be named accordingly and placed into 6 folders; 1 for each round; to make it more organized. (Example: A song will be in a Folder called Round 3 and the files in it will be called Song 1, Song 2, and Song 3). For those of you who entered my last tournament, you'll know what I mean. It's easier than I made it out to be.

-During the first round, people will play in a random order. Before the tournament begins, I will play the first round's edits to make it fair for everybody. I will do this ONCE AND ONLY ONCE at the starting time, so make sure you're there on time!

-After the first round, competitors will play in an order determined by their performance in the previous round. Last place will play first, first place will play last. I will NOT play these edits before the round begins.

-Edits will become harder and harder as the tournament progresses. For Round 1, the difficulty will range from 8 to 9 footers. This will increase during each passing round... as shown above.

-Failure is NOT taken into account here, so disregard the life bars. Each step is just as important as the last, so keep going, even if you fail!

-Scoring is CUMULATIVE and as follows:
Fantastics: 3 points
Excellents: 2 points
Greats: 1 point
Holds: 2 points
Rolls: 2 points
Mines: -5 points

-Your score for the round is determined by the total scores of the 2 or 3 songs. (the circled part of the screenshot)

-Here is an example of how your score will be determined:

ELIMINATION:

41+ players: (aka. A MIRACLE)
-I might have to make it up on the day of the tournament if it gets that high... and I'm just putting this up so I'm prepared for anything. All I know is that Round 1 WILL be shortened to one song, hahaha.

32-40 players:
Round 1: The players with the top 24 scores will advance to Round 2. All others will be eliminated. MIGHT be shortened to 1 song.
Round 2: The players with the top 16 scores will advance to Round 3. All others will be eliminated.
Round 3: The players with the top 8 scores will advance to Round 4. All others will be eliminated.
Round 4: The players with the top 4 scores will advance to Round 5. All others will be eliminated.
Round 5: The players with the top 2 scores will advance to the Final Round. 3rd and 4th place are eliminated, and their prizes will be given out.
Round 6: Top player wins and gets the 1st place prize. The other player takes the 2nd place prize.

25-31 players:

Round 4: The players with the top 4 scores will advance to Round 5.
Round 5: The players with the top 2 scores will advance to the Final Round. 3rd and 4th place are eliminated, and their prizes will be given out.
Final Round: Top player wins and gets the 1st place prize. The other player takes the 2nd place prize.

19-24 players:
Round 1: The players with the top 16 scores will advance to Round 2. All others will be eliminated.
Round 2: The players with the top 12 scores will advance to Round 3.
Round 3: The players with the top 8 scores will advance to Round 4.

15-18 players:
Round 1: The players with the top 12 scores will advance to Round 2. All others will be eliminated.
Round 2: The players with the top 8 scores will advance to Round 3.
Round 3: The players with the top 6 scores will advance to Round 4.

Less than 15 players:
Round 1: The players with the top 10 scores will advance to Round 2.
Round 2: The players with the top 8 scores will advance to Round 3.
Round 3: The players with the top 6 scores will advance to Round 4.

*In the event of a tie, a tie-breaker song will be played.*

CONCLUSION:

I know I said this the last time, but I will say it again. I'm sure I figured out just about every roadblock and mishap from my previous 3 tournaments, and I will assure you that I will do my absolute best to make EVERYBODY as happy as they can. I will NOT make anything as ridiculously gimmick filled as I did the last time, and like I said, I am going to be very strict on my artists to make sure they don't cross the line, and more importantly, make the best files possible.

In the meantime, if you have ANY questions or suggestions pertaining to any of the information I have posted, please post away in this thread, or hit me up on AIM.

Thank you all so much for making this happen. I wouldn't have been able to do this without you.

-Jimbo
