Thumbs up Kings Of The Coast @ 8OTB, NJ! August 16th & 17th, 2008!

GENERAL INFO:
Date: Saturday August 16th, 2008 & Sunday August 17th, 2008.
Location: 8 On The Break in Dunellen, NJ.
Address: 340-346 North Ave in Dunellen, NJ 08812. (Also right across the street from the Dunellen Train Station!)
Registration Time: 12:00 PM on both days. You may register for anything as long as the qualifiers are still going on for a specific tournament. But please try and show up as soon as possible!
Starting Time(s): See schedule.
Entry Fee(s): $5 cover fee if you're entering ANYTHING (goes to , along with the given prices for each individual event (see rules for these prices). Basically, along with the cover fee, it's $10 for each other tournament except for Freestyle ($7) and Pop'n Team Battle ($5). Ex: I want to enter ITG2 only. I'll have to pay the $5 cover fee along with the $10 to enter ITG2.
Prizes: 60/30/10% of the the pot for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively. This is the same for EACH tournament. This is ALSO the same for the 3 people with the most amount of points (see KOTC point system) at the end of two days.
Facebook Event Link: Click here for the link.
ITG2 Custom Song Pack: Click here to download the ITG2 custom song pack! (Filefront, 25 songs, ~56 MB).

THE TOURNAMENTS & RULES:
Before you read them, here is a list of general rules that go for everybody, that I know everyone will obey, but just for your reference:
-All participants are expected to pay for their games. (ITG2 and Pump are 75 cents, while DDR and Pop'n are 50 cents).
-You will have two minutes to show up for your match. Failure to show up will result in a warning and the skipping of your match, and repeat offenses will possibly result in disqualification from the tournament you are in. The only exception is if you are participating in another match in another tournament at the time you are called.
-Please show good sportsmanship at all times.
-Hitting, kicking, punching, or smashing of machines, speakers, each other, or anything else inside the arcade is subject to your removal from all tournaments with NO REFUND and/or being banned from 8OTB FOR LIFE.

That being said, here is another general thing. The point system!
-You will get points depending on what place you come in and how many people enter each tournament. Ex: If 20 people enter ITG2, 1st place gets 20 points, 2nd place gets 19, and so on until last place gets one point.
-If there are less than 10 people in a tournament, points will start at 10 no matter what and work their way down by one until everyone gets points. Ex: If 4 people enter IIDX, 1st place gets 10 points, 2nd place gets 9 points, 3rd place gets 8 points, and 4th place gets 7 points. Exceptions will be DDR, ITG2, and PIU Singles, where it will happen if less than 15 people enter (instead of 10).
-If there are more than 20 people in a tournament. First place will get 20 points no matter what, and the point system will work it's way down until the last people end up with 1 point each.
-These systems are there to encourage people to enter more tournaments, and to keep a better balance in points.
-The three people with the most points at the end of 3 days will be the Kings Of The Coast (other titles are possibilities as well)! Prize: 60/30/10% of ALL of the $5 cover fees, which are separate from all other tournaments.

Day 1: Saturday, August 16th, 2008:

In The Groove 2: $10
-All participants will play a qualifier for seeding purposes. I'll give you a hint: it will be a 9 or 10 block EXPERT chart from the custom song pack! I will not tell you which one, but before the tournament starts, I will reveal it and play it so everyone can see it.
-Depending on the amount of participants, a 16-man or a 32-man bracket will be used.
-If there are less than (but closer to) 32 people, byes will be given to the highest seeds as necessary. If there are more than 32 participants, the people with the lowest scores on the qualifier will be cut.
-Regardless of bracket size, tournament will be double elimination.
-Higher seed will have first choice of either side or who picks first song. The other player will choose the remaining option.
-In addition to ITG1 and ITG2 official charts, a pack of 25 songs will be added onto the machine, and you may choose these songs if you wish. This is because unreleased custom songs aren’t really as fair, but officials have been beaten into the ground. You all have just over 3 weeks to learn the charts! WARNING: Play through everything, cause chances are, some charts may be different than the ones you know! Step artists are blank.
-You MAY NOT pick anything below Expert; Officials, Custom Song Pack, etc. NO EXCEPTIONS.
-If you choose a song and fail it, you will lose the song, NOT THE MATCH. There is no penalty for failing a song you do not choose.
-You may not pick a song more than once throughout the tournament. Example: I pick Oasis Expert in Round 1 against Patrick Bateman, so I cannot pick any form of Oasis for the rest of the tournament).
-Matches will be 2 out of 3 based on percentage. If needed, the 3rd song will be chosen with RANDOM. If a song above the round limit comes up with random, another song will be chosen (whenever random comes up within the round limit).
-Pad errors will be taken into consideration as always.
-You may ONLY choose the following mods: Speed Mods (CMods if they don’t DQ), Perspective Mods (Hallway, Overhead, etc), Noteskin Mods, and Mini.

The rules are subject to minor changes, but the games/formats are pretty much final, along with what is happening on each specific day. The specific times for each tournament will be subject to change on the day(s) of the event, but we will do our absolute best to stick to them. If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, please say so here and we'll definitely answer them!

Updates:
7/19/08- Added the rules!
7/21/08- Changed the rule for failing a song you choose for games that carried the rule: If you choose a song and fail it, you will lose the song, NOT THE MATCH. Also, for IIDX, added Hidden/Hidden+ & Sudden/Sudden+ to the list of available speed mods for IIDX and the equivalent for Pop'n.
7/23/08- For those of you entering ITG2, the custom song pack is up. You have just over 3 weeks to learn the 25 songs in there. You can download it here. Also, added information regarding the ITG2 qualifier, and specified the 3rd-song rule for ITG2 a little more.
8/01/08- For ITG, Hard charts and below will NO LONGER be allowed for the custom song pack to lower the amount of charts to learn. Random will be used to pick the 3rd song in a match if needed. For general info, $5 cover fees will be made into a pot and will be divided accordingly amongst the people with the most points going with the KOTC point system. This is confirmed, and I will update the official prize money info when I get it.
8/03/08- Added prize info for the Kings Of The Coast, which is based on the 3 people with the most points (from the point systen) at the end of two days. 60/30/10% of ALL $5 cover fees will be distributed to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively.
8/08/08- Added rule for ITG2: For official songs, the only songs you may pick aside from Expert Charts are Hard Charts rated 9 or higher. Everything else is BANNED.
8/09/08- Added rule for ITG2: EXPERT ONLY. NO EXCEPTIONS.

I was going for more of a "baddest NJ on two turntables" thing but this is acceptable.
