Sigh, I won’t be able to enter any tournaments except if there are IIDX Light 7, DDR Standard, and Pop’n 5 Key.

Wow, I really need to buy those games and get better at them (well IIDX and Pop’n at the least.)

I'm still waiting for me to get a better job so I can afford a Pop'n ASC. I keep applying and it keeps not happening and other things keep happening that cause me to not be looking for a new job.

EDIT: There is a very good chance that you will have to physically remove me from the Pop'n setup if we're doing anything else or the con closes up or whatever shit

If there was late night gaming like Anime Boston, we could have all met up in the game room. I remember I did nothing but play 5 Key at AB especially because there were no easy Light 7 songs on IIDX R.E.D.

In the end, I guess Otakon isn’t the best convention for what we would like to do. Every year it gets worse, I hope this year is the year for Bemani.

The funny thing is I’ll be able to afford Pop’n Music ASC and the game August 18th (or around that time,) but I’m submitting an application for an art college in California, crazy huh?

Solid! That can be arranged. Squire James once showed me a rather interesting technique to not beat someone in a fight, but make them rather willing to stop and listen to what you have to say. ^_^

And what would your definition of 'the year for Bemani' be?
One major improvement is VG room staff now has two people with deep knowledge of music games. Before, they'd just leave it to who ever would show up with music game stuff because they either a ) had no clue about music games, or b ) didn't like music games.

I'm a lazy SoB and have enough problems waking up and being at the con by 10am. I hope the late times don't interfere with any of the evening events people want to go see. (guess it's not such a big of a deal now that MAT3K is gone)

Sorry, I plan to allow random. Live by random, die by random.

Pop'n is gonna be on an DA ASC, no ifs, ands, or buttz.
But IIDX is gonna be like fighting tournaments. Bring your own controller if you don't like what we have. Defaults will be DA ASCs (singles, not the double), and I plan on bringing my KOCs. both are jp, both have TT mods, one has filed down keys and rarely sticks, the other has the keys ripped off of a US KOC. They're both fine by me, but I don't have some 1000 AAAs.

question: if you pre-reg'd already, but don't have the e-mail receipt, is it still possible to get in? I guess what I'm asking is do they have a record of you pre-registering at the door?

We should do a IIDX tourney using Pop'n controllers.

This is wonderful. As long as I use one of your KOCs or mine, I think I wil be plenty happy. Random is <3 for IIDX.

No clue. ^_^
You can head over to Otakon's main site and send that question to 'Pre-reg Questions (last name A-M)' or 'Pre-reg Questions (last name N-Z)'.
I take pride in having dodged working reg all the years I've been with Otakon.

Due to time (and music game tournaments running longer than say.. fighting games), 'cept DDR, all the music tournaments are meant for high-end players. DDR has it's Standard Division, at least.
That said, I won't rest until Pop'n, IIDX, & DDR have at least 2 stations. If you can get ahold of me, I don't think I'd have any problems giving up one of the stations for lower-level tourneys or silly stuff like Pop'n IIDX. It just won't be run by Otakon.

All DA controllers will be more lit than most of my old college friends.

If I had the know-how to run a tournament that wouldn't be an abomination, I'd run a Light 7 tournament for those of us folk who would get creamed in a regular division.

This reminds me: Last year I wanted to do the R5 challange from 6th Style on a Pop'n ASC and give prizes for highest score and most stylish attempt... By the time it got down to it last year though, only two people wanted to do it.

Anyone have any interest in entering this? If a few people are down I'll get a few prizes in order and set a definite time for it.
