Scheduling the trip in general was a nightmare. It means that I have to miss my Japan trip reunion party, some important 'mandatory' English test for college which I will now have to take in the fall, and senior prom. The AP test should end between 11:00 - 11:30, so I had to find a flight after then but didn't get into Chicago all too late. There was a much better flight time-wise, but it required me to make a half-hour plane transfer at LAX, which my mom was horrified of. The best flight I could find was at 1:15, and I knew from the start it would be a stretch but it's all I could do. The ticket is non-refundable. And trust me, there are no better flights from San Francisco to O'Hare.

But it turns out that my AP test starts at closer to 8:30 rather than 9:00, so I may have some more time to make it. Wish me luck!

I hope I can make it Saturday night, money is pretty sparse for me though. The good thing is the center is only an hour drive away.

I should have in/out access along with some of my staff, so it shouldn't be a prob.

Friday or Saturday afternoon, we're going to an awesome local burger joint, no questions asked.

Sorry guys, unless people feel like eating late I won't be able to make it to the eat-and-greet; my plane doesn't get in until 10:40 or so.

My Prom happened to be at the Hyatt last saturday and they renovated EVERYTHING. Except the fugly statue in the lobby.

I can't wait, now that I'll be going to the con right after school's out, it'll totally make up for my lack of not being able to stay at ACEN on sunday 8D...despite the fact Thursday will just be social, and Sunday is more like "last panels and goodbyes"

Oh well, I look forward to seeing some of you guys soon.

BakaOrochi: gimme the location of this burger joint and I will (may) be there.

So, scheduling now sucks even more. Turns out the AP test is at 9:00, and will undoubtedly last until 12:45. So, I either throw away a $400 ticket to Chicago, or I can bail out on a $83 test, which I can probably get $70 back on, and by doing so it means I'll have to read books in college.

The choice is obvious, I feel.

I remember last year when Grayslake had their prom at ACEN. One of my friends was going to prom with this Grayslake girl and he was into anime and other Japaneses related stuff. We were joking around about how close he was to stepping into ACEN. Fond memories...X3

I'm leaving for ACEN around 3:30PM-4:00PM right after school and putting my stuff in my hotel room. I'm signing up for the beatmania IIDX competition, though I know I will be annihilated in the second round.

I probably won't enter the IIDX tourney, since it's just on CS and there's no fun in tournaments with easy timing. I will, however, be doing the guitar freaks, drummania, and popn tournaments. And if they'd get that music game marathon tourney up and running I'd do that.

Default Review Of BemaniStyle's role in ACEN.

Anime Central was actually quite fun! The pre-registration lines were quite long (some people were reporting 4 hours), but I didn't have to stand in them because I was doing a panel (the "Learn Sudoku!!!" panel) at ACEN, so I got my badge in the Panel Programming room in less than 5 minutes.

So...it was really cool to see the BemaniStyle staff at the con! My favorite anime convention (and one of my favorite events of the year) + one of my favorite websites = awesomeness. The fan panel was somewhat on topic, though it got off topic a lot too (especially since Keith seemed a bit drunk ). I did learn some things that I wasn't aware of before the panel, including that there was supposed to be a Beatmania IV and a Para Para Paradise 3rd Mix, but those never got released.

The Soap Bubble was pretty fun, too, though the gabber/hardcore techno provided by DJ Chucky and Guhroovy eventually got repetitive and downright boring. Part of the problem was the heavy amount of bass provided by the speakers, which made it harder to hear some of the higher synth lines in music and made it sound more like thud-thud-thud-thud-thud..... Still, it was nice to see Japanese DJ's actually come over and perform at an anime convention, and DJ Chucky's actions at the turntables (with him wearing pantyhose on his face and pointing his fingers in the air) were pretty funny. I'm actually glad that Guhroovy veered off the gabber pipeline for a little bit and played "Battle Without Honor Or Humanity", along with a few Japanese march-like tunes - I definitely can't listen to gabber for more than 30 minutes (unless it is possibly Sharpnel) without getting tired of it. Oh yeah, the breakdancing in the center of the dance floor was pretty fun, too. (I left the Soap Bubble at around 1:20 AM)

So, this ACEN was plenty of fun. Now I have to go study for my three finals tomorrow.

P.S. My badge name was JNOtaku, so JasonMath = JNOtaku. Just wanted to get that straight

P.S.S. I never got your autograph, Keith. Oh well. It was definitely great meeting you and the other staff!

Haha, that was NO+CHIN that did anime remixes and Battle Without Honor Or Humanity, not Guhroovy.

AMAZING 3 days. A few things could have gone better (Pop'n tournament suddenly moved from Sunday to Saturday when it was scheduled for Sun. on Friday night), but overall I was really impressed and had probably the best weekend ever.

June, thanks a LOT for getting me a badge. It really helped me attend (had almost no cash for this haha) and it really meant a lot. Thanks for trying to get us all backstaqe for Soap Bubble too. It must have been hell running the Game Room all weekend but you kept your shit together. Thanks.

Keith, haha sorry I have your badge, June gave me it temporarily because he forgot to print mine and just said he'd get in touch with me if you needed it.

Random, I hope you enjoyed those Skittles.

Eddie/Bemanistyle in general, thanks for booking Chucky/NO+CHIN/m-project/Guhroovy. That concert was amazing and they were all chill as hell. I hope they had fun and got a positive experience out of it too.

I hope the concert video and Bemanistyle panel video are up soon

hahahaha, bemanistyle panel. Yes.

I'll be working with Forrest on getting that footage ripped and encoded soon as we can.

We have the entirety of the panel I believe, and maybe like 20 minutes of the concert. Battery died and we didn't feel like running back to the room.
We also have some wonderful videos of SpoonMania thanks to Forrest.

Yeah, Acen was great, concert was amazing, etc. etc. I wish we had realized that NO+CHIN and the guys were only 2 doors down from ours. Could've had good times.
