I can't make it if it's anywhere but FFC. Not much of interest Bemani-wise at 6F, anyway. ITG + DDR = dance meet, not a Bemanistyle meet. Even then it is just two mixes...

And I'll assume that the drum game is MTV's Drumscape, in which case I'm still unphased. Sorry to be so negative about it, but 6F is really not a good one if we're trying to find a place for a Bemani meetup.

No, I agree, somewhere like 6F just wouldn't work for what we would want to do. The major thing is the price of getting into 6F, and for that same amount you could have one HELL of a day at FFC. Never mind it has just about everything you will ever need inside the building (snacks, pizza, pop, etc). And LASER TAG.

we can def. set up any racing tournament or anything else people want. I haven't played the Initial-D machines there, but I'm sure Budd can see if we can fix them if they're fucked up. we also have two Maximum Tune 2 machines (one has a broken shifter atm, no idea how hard that'll be to fix/replace), 4 Mario Kart cabinets, 4 Nascar cabinets, and other less popular games (Cruis'n World, etc).

Let's plan on Late July/Early August for now. I'll talk to the owners and see if we can settle in on a weekend or at least date/set of dates that they think will be okay.

Just mapquested only to realize its like 13 hours from my house Would love to come if I could. This is a great idea though (as we have little community meet-ups) and I hope it turns out well.

It was so nice of you guys to mention us as an option....

Never mind the fact that we have 8 Bemani on the floor, 1 more in the shop and only 1 of them currenty out of order.

And then there's 'Fever' coming in a couple of weeks.

But hey, if you all want to go up to FFC and dick with their broken games, go right ahead. I'll probably have too much work to do with our expansion anyways.

Bigger doesn't mean better.

Hey hey woah what was that for? Quite the first impression I must say. Now I really don't think I want to go to wherever it is you are.

wow your only positive. do us all a favor next time and keep your opinion to yourself next time. We all like the place, and you dont need to tell us your opinion, its not going to change our minds about it just because you dont like it.

Uh, that was really uncalled for. I mentioned FFC because it does have the most and newest bemani in the midwest and because I live near it; it's practical because I can obviously host people, there are a number of us that are really nearby, and because it frankly and simply just does have the most games. I didn't bring up Memories because I haven't been there and I didn't think of it. There's no reason to throw insults and get ornery when you never put it out there as a suggestion over the last... 3 weeks? that the topic has been up. Not to mention that, as deathrazor mentioned, giving this as an attitude and first impression isn't really going to make people want to come down. :G

Yeah, I'm a little bitter. You might be too in my position.

I have invested 10s of thousands of dollars in music games, and I happened to end up in a city where the population is rather close-minded. (ITG and DDR usually do okay, but the 'Japanese stuff' is unusual enough to keep most people from playing.)

Couple that with all the talk and money spent on the same at places an hour or two away from me, and it starts to get more than irritating.

Unlike many arcade owners I actually play and enjoy the music games and try to keep them working properly. When I see places that don't getting more business, it just makes me sick.

Half of the talk on the Meetup thread is from Nebraska players that know of us by our posts and visits, but nobody mentioned us.

We are getting a PopN Fever and the word is out, but again, no mention of that.

I have tried supporting the Bemani community, and I have kept poorly earing Bemani games on the floor so the occasional visitor could play them, but I am constantly passed over for events like tournaments in favor of locations that are bigger, even though most of them don't give a damn about the Bemani players in general.

I am trying to make a living and having good machines sit idle does not facilitate that very well.

I do understand your situation and frustration, but coming in here attacking FFC and being sarcastic/rude to the people trying to organize a get-together is neither in good taste nor going to help.

You were welcome to bring up Memories as a place to hold this or plan an event yourself, but like I said it's been 3 weeks and the general concensus was on FFC. I don't see what good it does to attack us for "ignoring" you as if we're trying to put you out of business.

Frankly, although bemani isn't the main focus of the owners of FFC, given the amount of machines they have and the fact that they continue to upgrade them it isn't something they entirely ignore either. I think you know Jinx works there and obviously cares about them; I think it says something that myself, eldiablo3005/Alex, modarius/Jon, and several other people have gone in and spent entire days repairing and cleaning the machines.

Frankly, afaik you or wigmund have come up once or twice? I haven't met either of you, and because I don't have a car right now, I haven't had a chance to drive down and check Memories out. Like I said, it didn't come to mind.

Quote:

It's not like we're trying to edge you out; if you look at the Memories thread I think you'll see a few of us saying that we'll come check it out once it's in; however, since we live in Omaha, I don't see why we would bring up a place we've never been to and have thought about going to only loosely so far.

Like I said before, no one is doubting you; but attacking FFC's owners without much or any real backing is kind of rude. The fact that we'll likely have DistorteD in this Monday is a result of players bringing it to their attention and requesting it and them agreeing. The fact that they let us go through and repair games without them watching over the entire thing as we do it says something about them trusting us too.

Honestly, my suggestion/thought: if you're complaining about the Bemani you have not doing well at your location, and you are relying on it for profit, my honest suggestion would be to move it to somewhere with a lot of interest and a solid community. Not easily done, but you can't be mad at us for not having cash/a ride/the time/etc. to make regular trips down there.

As for events, a majority of people thought this would be a good place for this event; FFC has made a somewhat decent name for itself with it's Bemani over the years. You didn't bring Memories up and none of us had a real reason to (being that we all live 5 minutes from FFC and don't have any major problem with it, and none of us aside from Jinx and maybe someone else have met you or Wigmund or been down to Memories). If you want to hold a tournament or get-together, my advice would be to research when there aren't events already planned, get a schedule together, and announce it. None of us are fighting against you, so we'll probably try to make it and also get word out to other people.
