Marketplace Rating: 2 | Gameworks - Schaumburg, IL. This is the official thread for Gameworks in Schaumburg IL. It is basically a giant arcade located a few blocks away from Woodfield Mall. They have some special games here that you probably won't find anywhere else or at least nearby. They also have a few DDR games that are in relatively good condition.
Current bemani/music game list... DDR EXTREME
The monitor is bright, the pads work great. The game is on Joint premium. DDR SuperNOVA
Volume can be sort of hard to hear sometimes but the pads work very well. This machine is also on Joint premium. DDR X
The pads seem to be working pretty well at the moment (2P side seems to be iffy sometimes). The machine has been updated so the "lag" has been fixed. Unlock codes are constantly put in. No e-amuse, and its unlikely Gameworks will get it. Other notable games
Street Fighter IV (x2, linked, also connected to a TV above the cabinets)
Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom (x2, linked)
The King of Fighters XII (x2, linked)
The House of the Dead 4 Special
Sangokushi Taisen (with update installed)

-Sangokushi Taisen was there since...almost last year. It disappeared for a couple months because supposedly it was going to be translated, but ended up in a warehouse instead.
-They've had 3 machines for YEARS. Supernova works decently, Extreme's pads are hit or miss, and ITG is garbage (blame it on crappy sensors).
-HOTD4SP is balls. It's barely a game, more of an attraction. It only has 2 levels, the game itself was put together in, like, 5 minutes (acting is by far the worst of all the HOTD, not even laughably bad either, characters don't even speak properly along with the dialogue, just generic lip-flapping and arm moving), levels are almost all recycled, and the ending might as well be non-existant. If you understand how the game works (no pun intended) and your partner isn't an idiot, you can finish the game easily. Waste of $6/game.
-Guitar Freaks 1st Mix is crap, and they've had that since it came out 8 years ago. Half the time the pick sucks or a button's missing. I'm sick to death of playing Lucky?Staff for the 23948723520th time, especially on picks that usually suck.
The only thing notable about GW is that it's a Sega test location, so we've gotten VF5 AC way before the PS3 version came out, Psy-Phi, a super rare touch screen fighting game by Yu Suzuki that never saw a full release, Initial D ver. 4, and a bunch of other neat beta test location games.
Otherwise, that's about it. All their new policies on time card play and coupons blow chunks. Their bar drinks are all watered down, their liquor selection is decent (I'd rather go to Dave & Buster's), food is par (D&B = way better)...at this point, I only go to visit the staff members that are friends.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | The 3 dance game machines are a little close together, but they DID recently fix the ITG pads. They're now about 7.5-8/10 in my opinion. The supernova machine is good. The extreme machine (despite not having the last unlock opened) is just about perfect IMO. The pads used to be pretty bad, but they apparently worked on them. I'd give them 8.5 to 9/10 now. I like GameWorks, it's only about 10 minutes from me, so it's a nice spot.
Too bad it takes them forever to fix anything (4 months to get a START button un-stuck on MvC2). Bleh. And don't even think about suggesting a new game to them. That shit has to go WAY too far up the ropes before it'll ever get acted upon.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Bah, those settings on MVC2 are jacked up anyway (level-1 damage??? WTF!), after I realized for years they couldn't fix the sticks properly, I didn't even bother.
Hell, they probably still haven't gotten the sticks right on SVC Chaos...not that anyone really plays it anyway.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | The cincinnati Gameworks is terrible. They have a SuperNova, an Extreme, and Percussion freaks 3rd. It's WAAAAAy to loud there and it's really expensive. The supernova machine is decent but theres a better one 5 minutes away for a lot cheaper. The only Gameworks that would be awesome wold be the one in Seattle. They have Supernova, extreme, DM 10, GF 11, Pop'n 14, Taiko 9, and Dance maniax. Hopefully, GW's will jump on the IIDX 14 US release and the V4 US release. Otherwise... ours isn't that great.

They gave me free credits on the machine and said, ok, go ahead and tell us which one are busted, and we will fix them" So I tested the four sides of the pad, and the big one that was broken was the 1P down arrow. The upper sensor was busted along with the left one. They fixed them all though! I also told them to make sure the SuperNOVA was always running correctly because the game is VERY popular, and it should be checked on a daily basis for broken sensors, considering the machine is one of the nicest in Illinois that i have seen.
