Makojin, explain yourself, dammit!
Oh well, I'll go scout around sometime. Then once I find the machine, I'll add it to the Bemanistyle machine location list BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE EVER DOES!
Sorry, I'm better now. | |

Sorry, I'm better now. | LOL! Well, I can understand how frustrating that is.

Muncie isn't that far from Indianapolis, is it? I'm sure we could get most of the Indy crowd out there. >)
We might also be able to pull some people in from BGSU, which as I understand it has a pretty strong Bemani community.
I'll volunteer your house for this hypothetical event.

As for my house, I don't think it's large enough to do a tournament.

Anyway, the reason I don't have any DDR gear is because I really didn't get into Bemani until recently, and by the time I had gotten into Bemani, I didn't feel it was a good idea for me to play dancing games. I had an illness around the beginning of this calendar year that culminated in a complete loss of equilibrioperception (read: sense of balance went away). Even though I'm back to walking and so forth, I've only tried going back to DDR/PIU a few times since then, usually with bad results. Likewise, I haven't gotten into the water since then, because I'm terrified about the idea of slipping underwater and not being able to surface because I can't tell which way is up...
I really need to make myself do it, though, because I think it'll help me with other balance tasks as well. And I can't afford to let this affect my life any longer than it already has - if nothing else, the bureaucrats around here are making noises about how ugly and loud and annoying my walking stick is and how if something's so wrong with me that I need it, why am I here in the first place?
But this isn't a rant thread, so I'll leave that there.
Too bad about your house... but I'm sure you'll find a way!

Too bad about your house... but I'm sure you'll find a way! | Ouch! That's a hell of a tough break. Well, you can still play most of the other Bemani Games. I don't even know where BGSU is unfortunately. While we do have a college in town not much of any people really play any Bemani outside of DDR. (Hopefully that will change.)

Total Tokens: 75,066.94 Donate Tokens | Yeah, DDR/PIU withdrawal is actually what prompted me to get into other Bemani in the first place, so it's not all bad.
But still, I'm determined that I'll get back to playing dancing games, too, it's just that it seems to be taking a heck of a long time. I really don't know what the hold-up is - some days I'll be good and capable of playing simple songs, and other days walking around seems to be enough of a challenge. I've never been the most coordinated or attentive person, and I'm sure that doesn't help matters. Maybe I should post an advice thread over in the DDR forums... then again, that may be a can of worms better left closed.
BGSU is in Bowling Green, Ohio! Yeah, I hadn't heard of it either. But it's a 3-4 hour drive from Muncie, IIRC.

The best advice I can give is to take small steps as I had a hard time getting back into DDR again when I got back from Iraq and sustaining knee injuries during deployment didn't help me either.
As for BGSU, there are numerous college in the state that are closer that would probably work better as a result.

Sounds like non-fun. That's one thing I have going for me - despite the discomfort of the situation overall, I'm not in any physical pain and I don't have to worry about activity making it worse (unless I take a fall and knock my head on something, I guess). More seriously, I was just saying that people *might* come down from there - not that it was very likely. I imagine that if a tournament were held in Muncie most of the draw would be from Indy, with some people from Ball State and a few from Bloomington (plus maybe a negligible number from Terre Haute and Kokomo - I don't think the Purdue guys would bother, since they have a more self-sufficient Bemani community anyway).

In terms of a tournament I will be honest and state that the last time somebody attempted one most of the regular players in the area during that time didn't even participate which really sucked. Before I even consider trying to run a tournament though we need to re-establish a Bemani based community in this area for Bemani players that are of age.

Total Tokens: 75,066.94 Donate Tokens | Elaborate on that. How? There are certainly some Indiana players who are of age; they're among the more dedicated I know (Brian, MonMotha, malictus, etc.) Or do you mean an of-age-Bemani-player community in Muncie specifically?
I don't think IU:B really has much non-dancing game Bemani activity, but they do have a lot of DDR/ITG/PIU players (who I view as potentially Bemani-interested).
I know that neither Terre Haute nor Kokomo has any official Bemani organizations.
Indy does, but then Indy isn't that far away.
