Default Memories of 1998 DDR Tournament - Springfield, MO August 12th

Memories of 1998
Dance Dance Revolution
Tournament

*Sponsored by: Red Octane*

DATE:
Saturday August 12th, 2006

LOCATION:
Tilt! @ Battlefield Mall
2825 S Glenstone Ave
Springfield, MO 65804

ENTRY FEE:
Currently, no entry fee is planned. Rounds are “Pay-to-Play”.

START TIME:
Sign-ups start at 11 AM, qualifying matches start around noon.

EVENTS:
There will be brackets for Beginner, Light, Standard and Heavy players. Currently, this is a Singles tournament only. Doubles play is not planned unless express interest is shown.

QUALIFIER:
Beginner and Light will not have qualifying matches for the sake of time. Standard and Heavy brackets will have a qualifying song chosen at random on the day of the tournament from the list below. Each qualifier will have a mandatory step-mod of SHUFFLE for the sake of a level playing field. Speed mods may be used at the player’s own discretion. The bracketed text represents what folder the song is located in on the second song sorting list. In order to re-sort the songlist, press both the < (left select) and > (right select) buttons at the same time while on the songlist screen.

STANDARD Qualifier List:

- 1998 [from DDR Extreme]
- Spin The Disc [from beatmania IIDX]
- Destiny Lovers [from Guitar Freaks & Drum Mania]

HEAVY Qualifier List:

- Memories [from DDR Extreme]
- Midnite Blaze [from DDR Home Version (the folder with the Japanese in it)]
- The Centre of the Heart (Stonebridge Club Mix) [from DDRMAX]

DIVISIONS/SEEDING:
After qualifying, players will be placed in a standard NCAA style bracket system. (i.e. 1v16, 2v15, 3v14, etc.) The tournament will be played out in Double Elimination format. Sandbagging (purposely doing poorly on the qualifier in order to be placed against a certain player) will not be tolerated.

MATCHES:
Matches will consist of 3 songs each played in a VERSUS style. The higher seed chooses the first song and the lower seed chooses the second song. The third song will be Random.

MODIFIERS:
Modifiers are to be used at the player’s own discretion. This tournament will not have forced modifiers, where a player picks the modifiers for both players for that specific song. Instead, each player is allowed to choose their own modifiers for their side of the screen.

SCORING:
The scoring format for this tournament is PERFECT ATTACK. It will be set up as follows – Perfects x 2 + Greats + O.K. x 3 = Score. This means step ratings of “Perfect!!” are doubled (i.e. getting 100 Perfects would lead to a score of 200.), step ratings of “Great!” are left as is (i.e. getting 50 Greats would have a score of 50) and freeze arrow holds of “O.K.!” are tripled (getting 20 O.K.’s would have a score of 60). All three values are added together to determine the overall score. The player with the highest number wins the round. The score will be determined from the players TOTAL results screen.

EXTRA STAGE:
This is for players in the Heavy bracket only. If EXTRA STAGE is achieved after the last song in your round, both players must let the song fail by not playing. It is advised that both players step away from the machine in order to do this. Playing the Extra Stage will skew the final score and ruin the match. Any player caught trying to add to the final score by stepping on the pad during Extra Stage will be immediately disqualified.

PRIZES:
Currently, prizes are unknown. Tournament Sponsorships are being currently worked on through Red Octane.

SONG RULES:
- 10 foot songs are allowed on Heavy
- Oni/Challenge steps are allowed to be played in the Heavy bracket and do not count as a modifier.
- Little and Freeze Off Modifiers are Banned
- A player may only pick a song one time during the course of the tournament. Once that song has been used, the player may not use it again. Other players however, can still play that song provided they haven’t already used it.
- If both players fail a song, the person who picked the song is automatically deemed the loser of the match. If they fail on the Random song, a tie breaker song will be played.

GENERAL RULES
- Please thank the arcade staff when you see them. They are allowing us the courtesy of holding a tournament.
- Please stay out of the walkway areas. Either stay close to the vicinity of the machine or outside the window in front of the arcade.
- Do NOT lean on the other games or block them in any way. We’re not the only people who use the arcade and we do not have free reign over what goes on.
- Do not set drinks of any kind on the machine, even water. They can spill and damage the machine. There is a ledge by the windows in front of the arcade, please set your drinks there. Not on the floor or other machines.
- Paper towels and Windex will be supplied to clean the pads should you need them. We can’t avoid the pads getting dust and some dirt on them, but please try and make sure your shoes are clean and free of mud or any other foreign matter.
- WEAR PROPER FOOTWEAR. Flip-flops, heels and socked/bare feet are not considered “proper footwear”. I have no sympathy for anyone who shows up without proper footwear and then complains about their poor performance on the machine. Please bring a pair of tennis shoes or other athletic footwear with you. I will not allow anyone to take his or her shoes off to play. Period.
- It does get hot inside the arcade, please provide yourself with some water or other drink, so that you’re not dying of thirst and having to run to the food court for a drink. We will not hold up the tournament for drink runs, I’m sorry. Also, bringing a towel or extra shirt is a recommended idea, as you will sweat.
- I want this tournament to be safe and fun for everyone. So above all, play nice and have a good time.

If you have a problem with any of the rules or just need to ask me some questions, feel free. Please contact me at my email (ColorOfSakura@gmail.com) or leave a comment in the comments section.

THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!!

If I'm off that day, I MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT make the trip out there. My car can take the abuse again.
