The shop has decided to spend a little cash on arcade games and we feel Bemani would be a nice genre to back. Dependent on how much you guys want them (and want to spend on them once we get them), we could either get some nice recent stuff or some halfy crap summin' or other. Here's a nice chance to revitalize the Omaha scene a bit, so let's hear your opinions. Realize that bigger machines (lookin' at you DDRs, PiUs, and IIDXs) aren't really feasible for a first machine for the shop due to size and cost, but most others CAN be...
This post promises no machines in itself. The shop just wants to know what kind of community backing it would have if it got Bemani.

Marketplace Rating: 5 | Pop'n (16 because in all reality Adventure CS will most likely be out pretty soon) or MAYBE DM V4/V5 would definitely get some business. Again though, in all honesty, Pop'n 16 would get a lot/LOT of business from me. And hearing that IIDX is pretty unfeasible, grabbing a DJ Troopers machine in nice condition would definitely get a fair deal of play. I'm not going to say it'll profit any time soon, but I know I'd actually make multiple trips a week to play on a nice IIDX machine (esp. GOLD+)
Also, what style is the IIDX that's going in the Lincoln store?

We could actually get DM AND GF V3 for far less than that. Regardless, Pop'n Party is going to be rediculously expensive when it drops as well, so we're probably going to have to get a not-newest mix for our first one IF and when we do. The only things we can promise about the machine(s) IF and when we get them is that they'll be kept in awesome condition. Justin and I both share similar feelings on broken machines.
Regarding the Lincoln store machine, I honestly don't know. I've told Deth and Pred all I know, which sums up as thus: It's a IIDX mix, and it's probably not one of the oldest ones, so I imagine it's a mid-series mix. Aside from that, I know it has minor fixable playability issues like needing new micros and stuff. I also don't know the location of where it will be. That's the whole story, unfortunately.
EDIT: RaySTAR, you know you'd come love us anyway, PiU or no PiU. I never said we wouldn't ever get PiU, just that it's not feasible for a first machine. We had actually wanted a dance game of some type for the shop, but never found a reputable and inexpensive venue for it. Now that dream has mostly faded away into a project with phases:
Phase 1: Acquire an arcade game or two. We just need something to start with, something not too expensive and one that can be upgraded later if needed. We would prefer to have a Bemani machine in Phase 1 if possible, but unless a great deal shows up, it's unlikely. Phase 1 is all about seeing if Bemani can pay for itself, not instantly but over a reasonable amount of time. Phase 1 is more or less about community support.
Phase 2: Funds accrued from the arcade are put directly back into the arcade, nothing is syphoned to other projects. Donations and whathaveyou to the arcade fund go (where? EXACTLY!) into the arcade fund. Once the fund has seen enough income, then Phase 2 begins. This is about stocking nice new-version or next-to-new version machines.
Afterwards Phase 2 repeats itself indefinitely (hopefully). Rather than have a model like FFC where games pay for other bills too, the planned arcade for us would pay for itself only, so any shortcomings or... longcomings(?) would be a direct result of what was paid in. I personally take an interest into this because I have an idea to keep a local and semi-local leaderboard set for any Bemani games we have that can be printed up on a regular basis. Possibly (probably through me rather than through the shop) there is a prize option that can be done through that rather than having to wait for tourneys.
All said and done, this is another post of planning and not one concrete details, so take it all with a grain of salt. I want Bemani community revived here and I'm sure you guys feel the same.
EDIT 2: Been awhile since anyone has posted anything score-related, so I'll toot my horn for a sec. S'd Sonic Youth EXT and ALMOST beat Day Dream EXT, no autos. I found I can do it easier with one hand on cymbal beating like a madman rather than trying to hit it with both. Made it exactly 1:00 into it out of the 1:26 total, and 1:12 ends the hard part. Gettin' close...

Maybe if the DDR community had people that played (and by play I mean worth a damn at the game) I'd possibly get back into that if we had some sort of rankings. I'd strongly support a IIDX machine, but it would have to be gold+ since FFC already has distorted. As much as we'd all like to see people playing these games again, I'm not sure if it's going to happen.

I already modded the turntable and buttons, but I still hated the feel of the buttons so now it sits under my TV stand collecting dust. I think I remembered talking about it with you at MMS'07, Phoneyphone. I was just going to give it to you the last day but I never managed to find you before you left. :P
Mod, if whoever you know wants it, they can buy it if Phone doesn't want it (for free). I told him he could have it last year so it's only fair.
