1P would generally use the left hand for 1 and 3 as well as scratching, which makes it much more difficult for 1P than 2P (using left hand for 1 and 3 and right hand to scratch).
Best example I could come up with off the top of my head, but it plays into things a lot. There are songs I cannot clear without Random and songs that simply not worth playing without Random. It also plays into the fun and skill of the tournament, which makes it a lot more worthwhile to participate in. There are a number of charts that are definitely 1P biased, and while you could say "just use mirror", the fact is that if you're more comfortable playing nonran you can, and you can take the same risk to get a better chart (or in a lot of cases, more enjoyable/more fun chart) as the other player.

What would they be doing with their right hand, just having it inactive while their left does all the work? (While I am not as skilled to the point where I have to deal with the complicated combinations) I think it would be easier just to get out of the groove you are used to of only using the left hand for S, 1, 2, 3 and right for 5, 6, 7. What stops 1P to leave their left hand on the scratch for that section of notes and bringing the right hand over to handle the 1 and 3? Rather than trying to focus on all of it with just the left hand. While I understand it's still different between the two players, what happens when a section comes up the complete opposite of that one?

The roles are completely switched around yes, and this time the other player is the one handicapped.
When playing in a tournament I'd expect that you are trying to play based on like Budd said the standardization of the songs, rather than turning on random and hoping to all heaven that you get a note chart that better suits your needs than what it is originally. When it comes to tournaments I'd choose standardization and regularity over the luck of the random.
And once again, my knowledge about IIDX isn't as great as some others, so correct me if I'm wrong on anything.

THATS WHY EVERYONE PLAYS WITH IT ON. if you want to score well on a song, you have to play with random. and yeah, i have room to be elitist just like you would if i was arguing with you about drummania. the standardization of playing would be to play on random. watch any tournament video and see if they play on nonrandom. it's good to see you have a strong opinion on everything bemani related that's completely retarded. its amazing you call me elitist when all your arguements are "old-school" and just plain behind the times. top ranker fucking allowed random. top. ranker.

hey budd just stop. seriously it's not a game you've experienced random where it's absolutely necessary for 12s. and if we wanted real standardization susman would need to mirror every song.
edit: this is jon
oh while we're at it. let's ban hi-speed, yoo. stupid mods get in the way of my standardization >:O

and budd, youre free to have opinions, but thats not an opinion. its an incorrect assertion. you really seem to like to defend yourself with the whole ITS MY OPINION I CAN THINK IT IF I WANT TO so youre never technically wrong, but this isnt an opinion. this isnt some dancing game where random/shuffle makes stuff really weird, this is a game where random is the standard of play at higher levels. before you start arguing with people about something youre completely ignorant to, i suggest doing a little research.

Let's talk about random since it seems to the hot topic here. It is left out because we wanted to try as close to standard play as possible. Now I realize that MANY of you only play with it on (and as Andrew mentioned earlier, can only pass some songs with it on), however, that is why it is also mentioned that you do not need to pass the song for the sake of the tournament. Also, this is also one of the main reasons why you get to pick your own songs. So, that being said, I have submitted the rules for posting on the FFC website and they should be considered official at this point. Providing the tournament is successful (and I'm willing to call it successful with at least 8 people), then we can re-evaluate random and any other mod at that time. We hope that this doesn't put anyone off the tournament, we would really like to see this and other Bemani titles be apart of our tournament lineup on a regular basis.
EDIT: One more thing. If anyone is interested in trading rival data, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. I will bring DistorteD as well if anyone wants to do it for that too.

This is the monitor that was used in Ninja Assault, but apparently they are going to be swapping that on out and said that we are welcome to it. This TV has a D-Sub connection on it so it can get a perfect sync with BemaniPC games, so no more screen distortions on harder songs.
One more thing tournament-wise, the tournament schedule has been posted to Family Fun Center Tournaments
