Did you get the machine from Michigan?

We got the machine from Keaton...not sure where he purchased it, though.

From what Keaton told me, the machine was originally 8 on the Break's (out in...New Jersey, I think? Somewhere on the east coast).

The machine has seen more than its fair share of atrocities, but it's still standing and we're doing what we can to preserve it.

Does 8th style feature most of the songs from previous mixes?

The full songlist isn't nearly as large as the later mixes - It has a pretty fair selection of old stuff, but not even close to 'most' of it.

Me and Arbel just spent the afternoon playing heart surgeon with the machine, and both the 1P and 2P sides are working perfectly now. We've also replaced almost all of the screws on the control panel with new ones, minus the 2P turntable (thank you Home Depot, for only carrying 4 of the screws we needed -_-), so it's really beginning to look nice.

We've got a couple more surprises in the works to get the machine looking and feeling as sexy as possible, so keep an eye on the thread in the coming weeks!

P.S. Pop'n FEVER should be back in the Union sometime in the next week, depending on how soon we can get our hands on a friend's truck.

The 8th style machine list wasn't bad, though.

I really enjoyed it. ^_____^;;;

I'll have to make some runs up there sometime when I have the money...and ablity to drive. :O

8th is solid for at least retaining a lot of good Avex and cutting edge licenses from 5th-7th. That is definitely something to look forward to.

Quick question, are the GF/DM V3 still there? I heard rumors that they got taken out to make room for IIDX 8th.

It didn't get taken out to make room for it, Phorrest just decided that having all of his machines 700 miles away was too difficult to maintain and took them back to MN with him after Anime Central this year. It's a bummer, but I can't blame the guy

So as far as Bemani goes, our room now has:

BeatmaniaIIDX 8th style
Pop'n Music 14: FEVER (to be re-installed by the end of the week, hopefully)
Guitar Freaks 1st US
DDR: Extreme

Well, god bless Phorrest for bringing them to BGSU. If only we could have some kind of fundraiser or something (Hah, I amuse myself) to get BGSU a GF/DM kit that could be sessioned. I loved V3, and wish I could get to MN to play on those machines.

I could be possible to upgrade that Guitar Freaks 1st Mix, but I think a lot of rewiring would be needed since there are no side speakers. I wouldn't even mind it bumping up to a 3rd mix.

I don't know if it is possible to upgrade a 1st through V3 using this

Much like every other kit that makes it to YAJ, they don't include the white security plug needed to boot the game. The plug itself transfers from mix to mix, V4 and 5 included, so the auctions never include them.

The Guitar Freaks isn't owned by us, and believe me, we've tried to get the owner to upgrade the machine in the past. He spent the last year telling us he was saving for the upgrade and eventually we just stopped hearing from him.

The guitars on the machine aren't in the greatest shape either, and both controllers have low-quality replacement buttons on the frets. It makes it a whole lot harder to play when it takes twice the force to press the keys.

At any rate, new IIDX plexiglass plates are on the way and we've got a headphone jack installed on the left side of the machine. If anyone comes to play, here's a warning: Make sure your headphones have a volume control on them or it's going to come at you at full volume because of how simple the jack is. I've been looking into adding a volume control to the jack too, but I've already been spending a pretty good chunk of change getting more important things taken care of. I've considered adding a 2P side headphone jack, but so few people play right-side that it really isn't very necessary.

Come out and play our IIDX machine and help support the fix-it fund!

I know I have at least $5 in quarters I could put into it.

BTW does the Extreme still have memory card slots there?

No. It's still the same machine as when it was ITG2, just with the PCB swapped. Mark didn't have the time or enough help to swap the machines outright.
