Default [OH thread] BGSU - Pop'n FEVER and IIDX 8th Style

At this point, I think BGSU deserves its own thread with all that's happening. We're getting at LOT of good stuff at the Union game room, if only for a couple semesters/years, but so far it's been great.

As of this last Wednesday, we added Pop'n Music 14 FEVER to the lot, and next Friday we are expecting DrumMania V3 and several candy cabinets in from Phorrest. Right now the Pop'n FEVER machine is set to 3 credits ($0.75), and Arbel is having some coin-slot issues, so getting in games is a matter of making sure Arbel is there to collect your money and pump in credits manually. We're hoping to have that problem taken care of by this weekend. The candy cabinets will probably be host to a number of fighters or shooters, depending on what sort of mood we're in when they get put in.

Looking into the future, beginning Fall semester, we will be hopefully installing a freaking IIDX DistorteD cab. We were going to have it installed after Acen this year (May 13th-ish), but because none of us will really be around to maintain it if something goes wrong (Me and Phorrest are originally from MN, and Arbel is from Akron), we're opting to hold off on it until we're back on campus again. Who knows, if DrumMania does well enough we might even be able to raise the money to upgrade the DD machine to a GOLD. (that's coming from me and not Phorrest. He'd probably disagree with me, so take my comment lightly)

The 2007-2008 school year is going to rock hard, guys. I'll do my best to post details on parking and game room hours as they come to me for any off-campus guys/girls that want to come and check out the games.

You can park in any lot that have a red or green dot on the lot sign after 5pm on weekdays and anytime on the weekends for free. These are the Commuter (Red) and Faculty/Staff (Green) lots.

Gameroom hours are when the Student Union is open:
M-F 7am-12am
Sa 8am-12am
Su 10am-12am

DM V3 is all mine!

Minor update: Mark and I shifted around some games in the Neo-Geo cabs (per your suggestion, Trick) so Bust-A-Move and Strikers 1945 Plus are now in the one that has sound. We also plan on bringing in Keyboard Mania 2nd Mix sometime this month.

Also: Where are you guys getting a DistorteD from?

Also also: If you guys need extra help moving stuff in, I'd have no problem driving up, as long as it's not a work day or it's Saturday after my shift. boct1584@gmail.com is the best way to reach me; I check every day.

For the love of God and all things holy, don't let him move KeyboardMania 2nd into the game room. It's already jam-packed as it is, and we don't need the hunk of junk there. No one will play it anyway.

And while Mark is at it, he should take a lot of the other games out...swap them around with his other machines. No one really plays the KI or Area 51.

A large handful of the games in the gameroom are rarely played beyond the ITG2, at least by the regulars. The capcom VS SNK was a great addition at least. As much as I like the idea of having something like Keyboardmania in there, unless he takes something out in its place, it is going to get way too packed in there. Mark is great for giving us the glass wall to put our bemani games, but if he keeps adding machines without swapping other less played games out, it's going to get really cramped fast. The gameroom could easily do without the Area 51 or the sound-less NeoGeo cab. Now that the good games have been swapped to the other cab, the other one isn't doing much more than take up space. Even the Guitar Freaks isn't doing well, despite being "a guitar hero ripoff", so say the random passerby. Were it a newer mix, it'd easily be justified, but with less than a handful of songs to play, there's really no point. People come in, play one round and never come back.

Assuming we get the candy cabs working alright, we'll have either Radiant Silvergun or Rival Schools: Project Justice in there along with DrumMania tonight. I don't think we're going to have the space to put in BOTH candy cabinets, unfortunately.

I agree the GF isn't really worth it, and I've been telling him we should just swap it for KBM if it's not doing well, which I would agree it isn't.

Anyway, I'm not sure when we'll get around to it now; I'm going to my grandparents' in Cleveland for Easter Sunday, he and I are hauling some machines to an old school/apartment building in Ohio City on Monday (probably), I work Tuesday through Saturday, and the week after next, I'm gonna be in Columbus for a property/casualty insurance course.

And as for what's not doing well...if you guys could keep an eye out and see what is and isn't getting played for around a week, then let me know, I'll pass it on to Mark.

1. V3? I hate you. Yes, I really do.
2. I'll do everything in my power to get myself there to play it sometime.

I can tell you right now: Whenever I am in there, KI, Area 51, and the bowling game aren't played at all. And I'm usually the one playing Capcom Vs SNK...I can't vouch for anyone else.

I know of one guy who plays KI and one guy who plays Area 51. A couple people actually play the bowling game. The right Neo Geo is like never played though. I would suggest taking out KI, the right Neo Geo, and Area 51. I mean seriously he can't be making more than like a dollar per week on these games (especially after split the profit with the university)

I'd suggest taking out these 3, perhaps putting in his tekken 5 and if he REALLY wants keyboardmania, like others said, swap it for Guitar Freaks. Thats my 2 cents.

So you guys put Radiant Silvergun in there? My friend was sort of tweaking out about that in a good way. He's probably going to blow a fair bit playing around with that one.

Well everything is set up the way it will be for the rest of the summer. The current setup is:

Pop'n Music 14: FEVER - $0.75 for 3 stages + extra
Rival Schools: Project JUSTICE - $0.25
DrumMania V3 - $0.75 for 3 stages + extra/encore, long songs count as 2
Radiant Silvergun - $0.25

We will probably have 50 cent Saturdays for the last few weeks of the semester, but it will unfortunately have to be a steady 75 cents for the music games through the summer since none of us will be there to change it on the weekends.

If anyone notices any big problems with any of the machines, just throw a post in here and we'll check it out as soon as we can.
