I usually play at Putt-Putt, where there is the only working ITG 2 machine in the Houston area. The one at Memorial City Mall is having major problems.

But do beware, the one at putt-putt is having outage problems with the up and right arrows on the right pad. I have no clue what is causing them. Left pad still works fine. Other than the outage problems, the right pad is fine, after I got them to clean it out. Wish I had been able to get them to do that before the NAT 2 weeks ago.

I only play kbm and bm5 at MCM. Occasionally the dm when it isn't fucked up.

Oh I did forget to mention:

There is a DM 10th Mix at Putt-Putt currently for one token. Beware, the hi-hat isn't working properly, though. It tends to keep pressing over and over like you are hitting it again and again. I believe it is not properly screwed in or something like that.

And also note that the start button is not currently working. Few people know that, so they continue to put tokens in when the start button doesn't work, and some of us get some free credits to play. It's nuts at times.

Also as for the ITG machine, the right pad's down arrow can get pretty iffy at times. I wasn't sure if they cleaned that arrow last time they cleaned that pad.

Maybe I just have bad luck, but every ITG Machine I have seen has either been out of order, or the pad is messed up.

Judging that you are from Katy, you probably haven't seen the Putt-Putt location here in Webster. The right pad is currently out for the most part because two arrows completely stopped working. The technican must have messed up the wiring when cleaning it out in mid-June. I am still waiting on them to get it fixed (I finally complained about it last Tuesday). The left pad is alright, and can be played without major problems.

The MCM machine still suffers, at last check, from major errors, including I/O errors. They haven't been able to get their kit working correctly. Was this the initial problem back in May or so when they sent the kit back to Roxor for "upgrades"?

The Namco Cyberstation @ Funplex, you might have seen a couple of ITG 2 cabs, but both were crapocabs, and had really really crappy pads, and of course everything else. They were both eventually removed, and none have been back since.

If you have been around for a while, then you may have known about the first ITG machine, the Supertracks one. It stayed there from December 2004 till the arcade closed in April 2005, then was moved to Shockwaves @ Pasadena Town Square. It hardly was played until being replaced by a DDR 1.5 mix sometime in early 2006, then that arcade closed down as the mall is being sold off and will be demolished soon.

But do you know of any other locations that have ITG right now?

Oh, and I did have to mention something. Do not go to Tilt @ Mall Of The Mainland for dance games. They have a PIU: Extra Mix that is way messed up with its pad, and the fact that they replaced their non-working big monitor with a PC monitor. Yes, a little PC monitor. Also they put in a DDR Megamix. Pads are utter crap. No more explaination to do there. The only thing I go there for nowadays is for SNK Vs Capcom, and that's when I don't travel to Tilt @ The Galleria.

Like I know why. I guess they were too lazy. A lot of stuff in that arcade needs repairing.

Oh, and I do have one hot tip for you guys that still read this. Try to go to Planet Zero Anime Center tomorrow, as the owner of that location did say that Supernova will be up and running that day. (This is coming from the mouth of the owner, posted on the mashharder.com forums, the official pz forums. I usually do not spread rumors, but since this came from the owner himself, I'll post it here) Of course, the disclaimer is I cannot guarantee it will be up 100%, but do try to go. From posts around btxgaming.com, the price will be about $1.39 or so, just warning you right now. They do charge some crazy prices, but there are games in there that you will not find anywhere else.

I do plan to go there tomorrow, hoping that it will be there. The next time I will be able to get out there won't be until Sunday at night, since I will be out of town for the weekend.

Oh, for those who do not know much about Planet Zero:

http://www.planet-zero.com

Hope to see some people there! I will be taking a video camera to get stepcharts and counts, mainly for ddrecall.com in order for them to get supernova rankings started.

Was that necessary?

Anyway, time for an update for Planet Zero.

The cost of the supernova is actually 20.1 points, or about $1.34 for 3 songs. A little much, but it could have been a lot worse, since the highest price they charge in that place is 25 points, or about $1.67, for Maximum Tune. There were large crowds on Wednesday, the day I went there for its debut in Houston.

I expect large crowds over the weekend, but of course I won't be there since I will be out of town.

I do recommend coming to this location anyway, despite the high prices.

I know, double post, but I wanted to write this, since I'm up late at night, and before I go to bed, give the scoop on all the locations that I do know about in Houston and surrounding areas, for anyone who wants to visit and play DDR/ITG here.

Note: I don't know how much, if at all I will update this post, though I will give periodic updates in future posts whenever something changes.

Southeast:

Putt-Putt Funhouse (Webster)
ITG 2 (Upgrade)
Left pad is alright. Right pad is absolute crap, as the up and right arrows don't function a lot. I've been complaining about this for a month, and no fix has happened, at least not to what I have heard.
Solo 2000
Pad: Alright, though it seems to be going on the downturn.

Kemah Boardwalk Arcade (Kemah)
Extreme
Pads: Left pad's down arrow is really screwy, though it seems to only be problematic for good players. Right pad's down arrow is going on the downturn. No unlocks.

Tilt @ Mall Of The Mainland (Texas City)
Extreme (Megamix)
Pads are some of the worst I've seen.

Shockwaves @ Almeda Mall
Extreme
Pads: Alright. Haven't played it recently.
Supernova
Pads: Brand new machine, pads are in great shape.

North

Mountasia @ Willowbrook Mall
Extreme
Pads: Seem to be good or bad at times, I can't get up there much. Last report was that they were bad. Go at your own risk.

Mountasia @ Kingwood
Extreme
Pads: Seem to be going downhill.
Note: Last time I was there in March, the volume was turned down. Also the place now opens only on weekends, which could signal this place may be on its way out.

Tilt @ Deerbrook Mall
Extreme (Megamix)
Pads: Last time I heard, absolute crap.

Zuma Fun Center
Supernova
Pads are alright, but volume is low. Screen is stretched out.

Southwest

Namco Cyberstation @ Funplex
Extreme
I've been told the pads are going downhill. Monitor is not so good.

Zuma Fun Center
4th Mix Plus, Supernova
4th Mix Plus's pads are some of the worst I have seen. Supernova's pads are better, but not really that good.

Shockwaves @ West Oaks Mall
Extreme
This is the machine that was at First Colony Mall. Pads are really crap. Seriously crap.

Planet Zero Anime Center
Supernova
Pads are pretty good, though the right pad is better than the left. Don't let that scare you off. Though I suggest bringing a lot of money, as the machine costs approximately $1.25 or so. There are games you will not find anywhere else! This location is highly recommended to go to, there are large crowds, events, and this place does open late!

West

Tilt @ The Galleria
Supernova
Left pad is getting more caved in. Right pad is ok. Beware, they may not respond well at times. Best Supernova upgrade known in the city.

Tilt @ Memorial City mall
ITG 2 (Upgrade)
Not sure how the pads have been acting recently, but there may still be some I/O errors from the machine.

Times Square Entertainment (Katy)
Extreme
Pads were alright, but the machine didn't look to be in good condition. Someone check it out and give me an update if you can?

Tilt @ Katy Mills Mall
Extreme
Pads are absolute trash. Most people I don't believe play that machine, instead they play the home pads at Teahouse Express, which frequently hold tournaments every month or so.

So that is all for now.

Oh and I do have to say, Planet Zero will be having a DDR tournament on August 5. You can find more information on the mashharder.com forums. I am uncertain whether I'm going or not, but odds are I will be.

Thanks for the extremely helpful info lilchris!!

The machine at Katy Mills Mall is in extremely horrible condition, with the screen faded and everything- which is why most go to play at the teahouse instead.

I've never had too many problems playing at memorial city mall though-

But nice! A supernova machine at Planet Zero Anime Center, I've never been there before though.

Anyone here live by the CY-Fair, Katy, Sugarland area?

EDIT: And what the hey? What was up with the supposed 'upgrades' that were supposed to be added to ITG 2 a while back? When the machine was active again I didn't notice anything different.

Well, the teahouse can't really be compared to tilt, since home and arcade play is 100% different. Now, you could try Times Square Entertainment, I'm guessing the machine is in somewhat better shape than Katy Mills.

If you don't know, go south on the Grand Parkway, you should see it in the first plaza you see.

As for the MCM situation, well, I'm guessing the kit actually went down again, and they had to send it to Roxor, and it took a long time for it to come back. I think the "upgrades" sign was extremely misleading, since we are still waiting for ITG3 to come out.

And yes, you should go to Planet Zero to play supernova. In fact, there is a tournament happening tomorrow at 3 PM. Entry fee is $20.
