I know this is supposed to be pretty much Bemani-related, but I had to bring it up.

This Saturday, at Coin It Up in Houma, there will be a National Pump It Up tournament. Divisions are Hard, Crazy, and Freestyle. Tournament sign-up starts at 12 noon and tournament starts at 12:45.

I've managed to get a spot for some extra tournaments, such as a 3rd Strike, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, and quite possibly, a Beatmania 6th Mix AC tournament (assuming we can get someone to fix the Effect button to put on Battle Mode). Or, if necessary, I can set up a Beatmania IIDX 8th Style tournament on the PS2 instead. B.Y.O.Equipment for 3S and BM.

Just another reminder, this is a family place, so there will be small children in the arcade. Foul language will not be tolerated

Aight, I'm goin to Lafayette this weekend, and I was kinda wondering if the condition of the ITG2 pads got any better or worse since my last drop-in a month ago.

When I was there, the front machine's left side worked almost flawlessly (except for when I went to do a couple hand hits, but I think that might just be me). Right side, uh-uh, not all that great.

I didn't play on the back machine, but I heard it wasn't that much improved.

I'm also wondering what the deal is with all the other machines in Lafayette being out of comission.

Hey louisiana homies XD

I work in the Aladin's Castle in the Prien Lake Mall in Lake Charles. Just as a regional update, I wanted to let everyone know what machine movements are going on. I have good contacts with the District Manager, and a couple of other rumor lines that I checked out.

First off, Lafayette is getting a DDR Supernova. Destination time: late July, early August. They will be getting rid of one of their ITG2s...

Second, the ITG2 Lafayette is getting rid of will be sent to Lake Charles' mall. It will more than likely be the ITG2 in the back of Lafayette's arcade right now (which sucks for me). The ITG2 in Lafayette that still remains will probably be moved to the back, where the old one was, and, of course, the Supernova will be right at the door.

Lastly, I heard a rumor that an upcoming business in Lake Charles called My PC Tech might be getting a dance machine. I went and checked it out; I talked to the guy that own's the business, and he said that it was probably going to be a DDR Supernova! If he can't get it (which is unlikely considering his own circumstances), he will look into getting an ITG2.

As for Pad Updates:

Lake Charles Prien Lake Mall: DDR Extreme: left side is okay, right side is great.

Lafayette Acadiana Mall:
ITG2 in front: Left side is great but sometimes has it's bad moments, left side left arrow doesn't work at all and the rest of the arrows are pretty much crap.

ITG2 in back: Unknown, but it's pretty much assumed that it sucks even worse than the one in front.

The back machine at Acadiana is pretty much complete crap. I don't even know how I got a single high score that I got on that machine. If you're getting that one, I suggest serious maintenance.

The left side on the front machine is indeed not perfect, but good, much better than the right side. I wonder if they were able to fix that in time for the tournament 3 days ago.

Yo, Ralph, I'm sorry I took off before the Pump tournament eneded (invitation to 3rd Strike matches at Dibbz). When I got back (around 8:30), no one from the tournament was there, so I didn't get to see the ending. Who won?

Quario, please heed my words: if you get one of those ITG2 machines from Lafayette, you will be sorry. They aren't real Andamiro pads, nor are they refurbished DDR pads. They are built of wood and sheet metal, and do not work properly. I was unable to pass any one song I tried on either machine in Lafayette when I went last, which was about a month ago. If I were you, I'd try my hardest to NOT get one of those machines moved to my arcade, you will be sorely disappointed. By the way, have you played on the ITG2 at the casino in Westlake? If it's a good machine, my friends and I might go out there to play. I only warn you as a fellow dance game player, and I hope you aren't offended by my harsh warning.

More importantly....

Possible Supernova in Baton Rouge!!!!!

That's right, I spoke with a manager tonight at the new Rave Motion Pictures (tonight was employee family and mall employees night to go watch free movies and eat free popcorn and drinks and play free games, of which they have few good ones, though they have Time Crisis 4, which is at least new), and he said that within two or three weeks, "the DDR mix that's newer than Extreme" will be arriving there. So, call them about it, and I will be calling them too, and I'll tell y'all when/if it gets there.
Attn: Gameware: If Rave gets Supernova, you will be left in the dust!

I'm well aware of the SUCK that is the ITG2 from Lafayette

In fact, today (July 20th), the ITG2 is leaving Lafayette (to make room for their SuperNOVA, which I have not confirmed is actually at Lafayette yet) and coming to my arcade.

Actually, I'm over-zealous to get the new ITG2. You know why? I've asked my boss (and trust me, he takes care of his games better than any arcade in Louisiana) if he can SWITCH the pads from our DDR Extreme with the new (...well, not -new- new, just new to us) ITG2. That way, the regulars can actually enjoy ITG2 with a good pad, and leave the Extreme's (ITG2's) pad to be worked on.

If anyone is in or close to the Lafayette area, please check with the guys that work there on how long it will be until the SuperNOVA is there.

I live in Westlake actually, and I've been to the Isle a couple of times. It's held me over, but:

1) the left side now has an "out of order" sign
2) the right side, up arrow is loose, aka, when I hit the left and right arrows, or the middle of the pad, the up arrow registers as a hit, making mines that much harder.
3) the arcade is 100% unattended, and there are wild 7-year-olds playing freeze tag that come in, seriously, in waves of 10-15 kids.
4) the machine times for the menus are low
5) the volume is way to low
6) 3 tokens (meh, I'd rather pay two)

You say I'd regret having an ITG2 at our arcade? At least MY arcade doesn't sit on it's ass--we actually do something about stuff that doesn't work. We will solve the problem with the pads a quick as possible, and it will be a heck of a lot more of a payoff than Lafayette would ever get at it's arcade.

Thanks for the good news about Baton Rouge! I don't frequent over there, so where is this Rave theatre? In a mall/which mall? Poor, poor gameware......

//new edit//

GOOD NEWS! Not really, but better news than what was expected. Prien Lake Mall's Aladin's castle got Lafayette's ITG2 from the FRONT of the store, not the back!! I'm soooo very happy right now. The pads are decent enough to hold me over until we can fix 'em up a bit.

//new edit//

It's official: Lafayette has their SuperNOVA.

You could just take out the Jamma board from your Extreme and put the Boxor in there. I'm not sure if you could switch those pads up. Good idea, though.

And how's Westlake? I grew up in Sulfur, myself, and have cousins in Westlake. Aron is their name, I don't know if you know them.

We just took a trip last weekend to Lafayette and were very pleased with Supernova. The ITG2, we got them to let us replace two dead sensors and reset the machine a few times, and it held up pretty well. I could actually clear songs this time, though getting 90% or above on anything is pretty much out of the question, as the machine lags alot and you start getting greats and excellents.

Which drummania mix is it y'all have over there?

Rave just opened right by the Mall of Louisiana and will be getting a Supernova very soon, apparantly. I hope so, cause that would certainly help getting other arcades to get on the ball and upgrade. Let us know if you decide to come down!! We're pretty hospitible.

SuperNOVA is indeed an excellent mix. However, I was hearing rumors that some songs had bad sync problems. Now, I don't know which songs have it, because so far, the songs I've played (all new ones, btw) have not had bad sync.

Not saying I don't believe this, because apparently, Konami is doing something about this problem.

Ralph, you need to come back this weekend and play some more SuperNOVA, that and some Wangan. I'm up in Laffy til the 13th AFAIK. Once that convention's over, God knows what my plan is.

To leave SuperNOVA behind not knowing when I'll return to play it will be very painful.

I went and Played at Lafayette's SN as well, and it was definitely worth it. I was a little let down to know that FaXX, HDV, and Chaos weren't unlocked (I didn't know about the whole unlock issue until I looked it up at DDRUK) so I played FaxX as an extra stage about 6 times with no avail

The sync problems on some songs were very evident. I didn't even touch Maximizer, because I knew it was one of the worse ones.

The ITG2 at the Prien Lake Mall in LC is getting great business! The pads are still in need of help, but it's been bearable at the least. My boss just ordered 8 new censors for the pads, so the fix-up is coming along nicely!

dj ralph: Drummania? What Drummania? The only drum game that I know about in all of LA is at the Boomtown Casino near Metarie. And I think that's a Percussion Freaks anways. However, I did hear a rumor that L'auberge casino is getting a Bemani upgrade: a possible SuperNOVA, along with a rumor of a Drummania.

Well, PF is the same thing, just an Asian cabinet, sort of like an Asian DDR 3rd Mix vs. a Japanese one. I heard it was there, I didn't know. How many players do y'all have down there? And don't you have Pump it Up somewhere in Lake Charles?

DDR Supernova being set up right now in the Rave Motion Pictures in Baton Rouge. (It's right next to the Mall of Louisiana, in that same complex.)
I'm going over there right now to play it, and you should too.

In before triple post(jk ralph :p)

Yeah the SN at Rave is pretty nice. I wish it was a little cheapera(4 coins a game), but it's expected with a 15 grand machine.

@Quario- I agree on the sync part. Curus(if I'm speeling right by d-crew from pop'n) is another badly synched song. I tried my best to time it right on standard(refuse to use medium :P), but I just good attacked it. :/ I cold've also been tired >.> I played as my 8th stage in three games in a row.

OK, this thread's been dead for wayyyy too long. It's time for an update.

Tournament news!! October 21, Aladdin's Castle will be hosting a DDR SuperNOVA tournament. Prizes: hell if I know at this point, because they never bothered announcing it to people, just like with the national ITG2 tournament 2 months ago. But I'm taking the liberty of exposing this tournament to you 3 weeks ahead of time.

In other news, SuperNOVA CS (US) is out, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one here to pick it up. Who else has it, and what are your thoughts?
