It's been here since the beginning of the year (I assume) and it's here! I know it's kinda late, but last time i was here was WinterBreak 06-07, and DDREX was still at the Beau Rivage, which was the worst DDR location on the Casino strip. A new machine was bought and brought here, and now is the best and only location here.
The community is small since the Hurricane break, but it's still expanding, whether if it's from local regulars to sincere temporary regulars from out of state!
If there are people out there who are still around the Biloxi/Gulport area, please give a shout out.
__________________________________________________ _____________ Mobile is not worth the trip.(period)
There have been outstanding records held on this DDRSN machine at the Beau Rivage, plus this is the only adequate location within the 50 mile radius! The inadequate location I'm inferring is Mobile, AL.
There are two locations in Mobile: DDREX @ Blue Rabbit Paradise and ITG2 @ Colonial Bel-Air Mall. The DDREX location...I'm not even gonna talk about, but the ITG2 location....it's just the most pitiful thing I've ever seen. The arrow panels are bolted down and when you're playing, it feels like you're stepping on rocks, although it sounds like you're clogging. Another thing is that the machine is an r23, so everytime I try to play my version of My Humps ( as seen on Youtube), it would always cut off right at 120seconds.

The Beau replaced DDREX with DDRSN at the beginning of March of this year. The community consists of roughly thirty players, including myself and many of my friends.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If I recall correctly, the Mobile Mall had a great ITG2 cab about a year ago. Clearly it has gone downhill as we saw just a few days ago. 2 screws are located in the center of every single arrow which seem to hinder the pad's ability to register the steps (among many other issues). I feel very pleased to have the great cab we have available to us at the Beau Rivage. If you are in our area please feel free to shout out. ~Shonen~ | |

So, if you're still just an Initial D person, what are you doing here? lol.
__________________________________________________ ____________ Beau Rivage Update: 6/24/07
After playing several games at the arcade, the LEFT PAD is starting to wear down. Players have been getting phantom misses for the RIGHT ARROW. As for the RIGHT PAD, the arrows require you to place a great amount of weight in order to clear a "freeze arrow".
That's all for the update! | |

Still phantom misses on the Right arrow of the Left pad. However records are still being made.
And finally coming to a conclusion statement from last night's game play: Left pad= players <150 lbs Right pad= players >150 lbs
(Credit given to Evil_Shonen for the statement.)
One of the players, Weston, played on the right pad, which we declared was the crappy bad. Well turns out that he stole some records off of some songs with that pad. He kept up with his combos pretty well; better than us of course. Plus, living in a judgmental society, many would say that he weighed at least 150.
I, on the other hand, weight 140, but i cannot keep my combos straight on that pad, so therefore I came up with the statement above.
__________________________________________________ ______ Killing Time in Mobile
I just happen to be in Mobile, AL yesterday. Mom and her friend were going car shopping, while I was doing some shopping of my very own at the Colonial Bel-Air Mall. I played a few games on the ITG2 machine at the arcade there, and I'll tell ya somethin: those pads just need a little time to get use to.
During my time there, I wasn't allowed to do any freestyles. That means no "Macarena", no "Cha Cha Slide", not even "My Humps"! One of the employees that worked there coarsely told me not to do freestyles or else he'll turn off the custom songs feature. However he allowed me to play some hard songs, like Fascination Maxx or Seven. I thought it was odd. Well after having a talk with the guy (named Ace), he backed himself up with reason.
"I work on these pads," Ace said. "We just put those sensors in not too long ago, and they are very sensitive. I just don't want anything bad happen to them again. It's money consuming, ya know?"
I understood what he was saying. He just wants gameplay to be worth playing, not for fooling around. At first when he warned me about not to freestyle, i thought he was an ass. Well, he isn't such a bad guy after all.

Oh, don't forget to check out my videos uploaded on YouTube, which was filmed at the Beau Rivage. "Sexy Planet ~Momo Remix~" Freestyle "Surrender (Your Love)" Freestyle
That's all the updates for now.

Second of all, you can play dancing games however the fuck you want! It doesn't matter if you want to freestyle or play for the highest score! That's seriously the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If anything, fs would put less strain on the pads.

Hello everybody! I'm back for the winter break. I just got done with finals, which were awfully stressful. We had an ice storm here last monday, which I was hoping would cancel my Tuesday Org. Chem final, but it didn't. Tuesday was also the day I purchased the airline tickets to Biloxi/Gulfport, MS. Believe it or not, it was $300 fucking dollars. Well, if I wanted to get out of the snow storms, why not?
It's pretty cold here in Mississippi, right now, but I have gone to play some DDR at the Beau Rivage. A Switch Off in the Conditions of the Pads?
The pads at the Beau Rivage are weakening down to the lowest state. The last time I was here the arrows on the 2P side was absolutely inadequate. Well, now the 2 sides have switched in terms of their conditions. The 1P side is now producing phantom misses, while the 2P side is doing slightly better than it did in the summer. What is going on here? Also, the pads have been slippery. Why is that? I've bought isopropyl alcohol (Sorry! Org. Chem. It's the same as Rubbing alcohol.) and the employees have stored it in the back in case it is needed. To those who have used Windex, I heard that it screws up the pad. I have no idea how it does, but I'd rather stay on the safe side and just use the rubbing alcohol. A trip to Jackson, MS for ITG2
My 3 friends and I took a trip to Jackson today to play on this machine. We drove 3 hours from Biloxi/Gulfport and when we reached this location, we were grateful to see an ITG machine in Mississippi. The pads were exceptional, but the USB card reader was erroneous. We tried all different ways of trying to get the machine to load the custom songs, but it wouldn't work. It did work for the first few times, but after that, it started loading lesser and lesser songs, such as loading only songs beginning with "M" and on up to "Z". I've talked to the white guy who is always behind the redemption counter and he doesn't know how to fix it. However we did try to reset the machine, but that still didn't work. We had an engaging conversation about the life of this DDR --> ITG machine and he mentioned two people: Preston and Lex.
Overall, this trip to Jackson was fun. I loved seeing the names in the food court, like "Turner's Grill: Soul Food" or (my favorite) "4 Real Grill". | |
