Default Calling all Orlando FL IIDX Players

The arcade known as "Rocky's Replay" is thinking about getting a IIDX Machine because the owner doesn't know if it's going to make money. He does know that DDR, ITG, and Dance Manix (The hand motion game) is making money. But he is afraid to move on to Beatmania IIDX, please reply to this thread to let me know if anyone in orlando FL plays BeatmaniaIIDX.
...

Please let this arcade get a IIDX, it'll be the first arcade in Orlando FL to get one.

shouldnt this go in a specific region section. >.>

anyway... this was my old hangout. I told him he should get a IIDX machine to replace the old 5-key one he got rid of a LONG time ago (that was my first beatmania game ever). i guess he hasnt gotten around to it yet. it IS a big purchase.

i'd love to see an IIDX machine at rocky's, being a smoker and all. below are my two cents.

in all honesty, i don't think a IIDX machine will do well financially. in the beginning of bemani's popularity states-side, games like DDR had an advantage over other arcade games by having a completely unique approach to its presentation, and this helped draw people in. of course, IIDX has similarly unique hardware, but with the learning curve being as high as it is in comparison to DDR, i don't foresee it bringing in a comparable player base.

for what it's worth, there're lots of IIDX players in and around orlando! i think both audity and kaze live there now, who are two of the best players in the US. there are plenty more than just those two, though. if rocky's were to get a IIDX machine, i think they could expect to see a constant flow of traffic on the machine, but i don't know if paying it off would be that easy.

Yeah, I see what you mean. But I was talking to the owner and showed him some videos of people playing it and a photo of what the machine looks like. I even told him that "You don't have to be an expert to play this, start from beginner mode and work your way up." I even told the owner if you're not good with having the disc on the left side you can always play on the right side. He's still thinking about it , because he said he can probably get a Happy Sky IIDX Machine .

Edit:
Yeah i know the traffic will be long. But I know that they will get their money after buying this machine. So long as there are players in Orlando, i mean c'mon I know there has to be alot of players who have the Happy sky CS who have been waiting for a machine at rockys replay.

as long as he doesn't get the happy sky machine that is currently in clearwater beach, at beach gameland. he doesn't want that machine, trust me.

i have a lot of gameplay videos on my youtube account if you want to show him those. i live under an hour away from rocky's, so if you wanted to, you can show him these to point out that there are in fact local IIDX players. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

my last post was just brutal uncut honesty, though. a IIDX machine is a very expensive investment, and i wouldn't feel right about manipulating my words to an arcade owner just to sucker him/her into buying one. in short, i'd LOVE to see a machine at rocky's, but it's not going to be the best purchase they've ever made. they'll be lucky to break even on the machine in its lifespan.

Oh man, an IIDX in Orlando?!?

That would be like, a godsend for me!! Beach Gameland is kinda far and Nexus Experience is WAY too far, but Orlando is under an hour from me!!! If they get a machine, I'd be all over that thing!

This would be so sweet if they get one. ^_^

Well, I told the owner to get GOLD since there's a U.S. version coming out and he said "Al'right, I'll see if I can get it but if i can't get it I might have to get an older version instead." and I told him to get DistorteD or Happy Sky just in case he won't be able to get his hands on GOLD.

so, is this a sure thing? as in, he's no longer thinking about getting it, but is surely getting it?

gold would be an incredible find, and definitely #1 on (i'm assuming) everyone's wishlist. i don't see why it wouldn't be, since it would have a hefty back catalog of the previous styles you mentioned.

distorted or gold would be preferred, though. both of these machines will have a new and improved monitor over happy sky and prior, considering it is not an upgraded machine.

also, be sure to check the "GOLD in US" thread someplace in the Beatmania IIDX sub-category for more information on the game's current status.

Yes it is a true thing guys. But! I need to know how many of your friends play IIDX, and does your friend's friends play this game also? I need names: for example... I'm Gino, I have a friends who also play IIDX also: Alex, Randall, Mike, Carl, and Paolo. Please let me know how many of your friends play and PLEASE LIST NAMES because I'm asking this the owner needs to know if people really play this game. And if i can get names of your friends who play this game he will be 100% conviced and order GOLD. or worse... an older ver of IIDX.

i live in orlando but i wouldn't go that much if it has a shitty monitor. regardless the style. distorted/gold preferredd.

i have a hard time believing this too, they had a BM CM2 a while ago and it never had any business besides me really, they never upgraded it and eventually sold it. i can't see how they'd want to get an even more expensive machine than beatmania cm2 when that did oh so poorly.

i know beatmania =/= iidx, but they don't, sadly.

As long as the machine's in good condition (style isn't too important to me), I'd be willing to come play every once in a while.

I'm heading to Rocky's later today when they open. I would love an IIDX machine there. I could round up a good number of others that would love to play too. As a student at Full Sail taking Game Design I know about a dozen off the top of my head that would be thrilled to have beatmania so close.
