Before qualifying takes place, a qualifying song from both Expert and Regular divisions of DDR & ITG2 will be chosen at random for all participants to play. Participants will go up, 2 at a time, to play the 2 chosen qualifying songs. With the score acquired based on the Storm Scoring Method, they will be placed in their designated division and seeded accordingly on a bracket similar to any other competition.
The Top 32 scores from the Expert qualifier will be entered into the Xtreme Tech competition. The following 32 players (#33 - #64) will be entered into the Regular Tech competition and seeded based on their Regular qualifier.
All other players will be out of the tournament.
DDR Xtreme Tech Competition (Max 32 Participants)
The Xtreme Tech competition will be a double elimination tournament.
All songs will be played on either Heavy or Challenge difficulty.
Play Rules
The higher seed chooses what side of the pad he/she wants. The lower seed will pick the 1st song and difficulty of his/her choice. The higher seed will do the same for the 2nd song. The first player to win 2 songs will move on to the next round. If each player wins one song, a 3rd song will be chosen by Random. Also, for the 3rd song, the higher seeded player will have to randomly draw from the MOD BOX. The MOD BOX contains different mods to be added for the 3rd song.
MOD BOX: Flat, Boost, Reverse, Sudden, Hidden, Shuffle, Dark, Super (choice of 2 mods)
Note: Shuffle will be removed from the MOD BOX after the 2nd round.
The winner of each round will move on to the next round. The loser will be placed in the Losers' Bracket. If you lose twice, you are out of the competition.
Round Layout
Note: The following layout will be used ONLY for Winners Bracket matches (excluding the Final Four).
1st Round: (Normal Play)
2nd Round: (1 Mod) Player choosing song must also choose a Mod for both players. This does NOT include Speed Mods.
3rd Round: (1 Mod + Shuffle) All songs will be played on shuffle. Player choosing song must also choose an additional Mod for both players. This does NOT include Speed Mods.
4th Round: (Random 1 Mod + Shuffle) Song choice will not be allowed. All songs will be chosen randomly. If there is a choice of difficulty, the higher seed can choose the difficulty. All songs will be played on Shuffle. Player with the higher-seed chooses an additional Mod for both players.
Final Round: (Nonstop Shuffle) The Final 4 players will duke it out in a 3 Song Session Finals Battle:
1st Session: #1 vs #2, #3 vs #4
2nd Session: #1 vs #3, #2 vs #4
3rd Session: #1 vs #4, #2 vs #3
Each session will compose of 1 song. The higher seed from the Winners' Bracket will choose 2 songs for the first 2 sessions. The lower seed from the Winners' Bracket will choose 1 song for the 3rd session. All players will play the songs chosen for the 2 sessions.
After results are given, players will be ranked from #1 to #4 in each session. The winner will be determined by the overall rankings from all 3 sessions.

Xtreme Freestyle (Max 20 Participants)
Note: For the duration of Freestyle, the dance stage will be illuminated by 2 or 3 spotlights. We will try to set the lights up so that the freestylers will have the least amount of distraction from the brightness of the lights.
Improv Freestyle
An Improv Freestyle challenge will take place at the beginning of the event. All songs will be chosen by Random for all players. Any difficulty may be chosen for Improv.
The winner will be decided by audience applause. The Improv Freestyle round has no effect on your overall victory. This round is completely separate and just for fun.
Storm Showdown
This is a straight 1-on-1 Improv Freestyle battle. 2 players will be called up to the DDR machine. All songs will be chosen at random. Any difficulty may be chosen. The players must battle each other out to the finish.
The winner of each battle will be decided by audience applause. I won't lie. This competition will mostly focus on the comedic aspect of your routines. It's not only about how you perform on the certain song, but also how you interact with the opposing player along with the song.
The competition is not required, but I encourage the participation. This round is also completely separate and just for fun.
Routine Freestyle
The Xtreme Freestyle will be judged by five (5) judges. They will score using the CPS method of judging:
Creativity - Impressing qualities, moves, ideas never or rarely used. Originality. Is any part of your routine biting off others? Is your routine distinguishing from others?
Presentation - How you present yourself, comedy (if any), costumes, etc. Intro and conclusion of your routine. Does your routine grab our attention? Is it boring?
Style - Technique, flow, coordination. How good do you look when dancing? Are you Ginuwine or fake? Are you Usher or janitor? Are you B2K or B2Gay? LOL
If you fail your routine, you are disqualified. After all players have participated, the judges will have their "huddle time" to determine the winners based on their scores. The purpose of the "huddle time" is to discuss who deserves to be the winners. Just because someone has the highest score does not guarantee a win. The judges have the ability to change any scores or decision before the winners are announced.
Couples freestyle will be allowed but you will be judged along with the rest of the single freestylers. It will not be a separate competition. You will not need to pay extra money for couples, but remember that if you place, you will only receive the one prize. You are NOW allowed to participate in a couples freestyle and your own single freestyle in the same competition.
Edits may be used for ITG2. Songs used must be appropriate in language. Radio edits are suggested. All songs used for freestyle must have at least 50 steps in the song in order for it to be used. If your song choice is under 50 steps, it cannot be used.
Props
Props are allowed for use during the freestyle. If any prop is deemed to be inappropriate (i.e. vulgarity, sexual references), it will not be allowed to be used. If you are unsure of it, ask me.
Here are your judges:
1. Stalliono
2. Crissy
3. Necrosonji
4. Bluefaery
5. (open)

Note: These challenges are not definite and may be changed at anytime before 12/25/2006. Challenges chosen after this date will be definite.
The Top 3 Players of each challenge will receive points: 9 points for 1st, 6 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd and 1 point for 4th. After the 3rd Challenge, 4th place player will not receive points.
Beware! The worst 50% of players in each challenge will receive a Strike. If you break the rules of a challenge, you will receive a Strike. If you fail, you will receive a Strike. If you receive 3 Strikes, you are out of the competition.
After 5-6 challenges (depending on the time), the player with the highest amount of points will be the winner.
