Funsville is officially re-opened (Adventure Crossing) in Augusta, GA Funsville (now known as "Adventure Crossing") is re-open for business.
They've completely re-done the place, and shifted everything around to suit the new business model.
They still have DDR 5th and Extreme, but they've apparently removed DDR max. 5th and extreme are still on joint premium and they are back to back in the middle of the arcade. (50 cents for 5 songs on 5th mix, JP is not a bad deal. I think Extreme might be 50-75 cents, I didn't check).
They've sold their Time Crisis games for a shiny new Time Crisis 4. They've replaced their air hockey table for a two handed tournament air hockey thing. You sort of have to see it to understand. It's pretty cool.
And, they still have IIDX, and guess! (guess) what! (what), I forgot to close the door, you forgot to... anyway, yes the IIDX machine is working! It's located near the back of the arcade, accross from the DDR games.
Videos are obviously non-operational, but the machine runs like new. Songs load quickly, and I didn't run into a single CD-rom error the entire time I played a few days ago. I talked to the manager, and he replaced the old drive entirely, so it's working just fine now.
Unfortunately, from the looks of it, both Dancemaniax and PPP have been removed and Beatmania 7th mix is M.I.A. I guess you have to make some sacrifices to pay the bills, but at the very least, the IIDX machine is still there (and from my understanding, the manager personally held it for me because I made it such a big deal about it).
They are open all this week until 8pm. The "grand opening" is this Saturday, after which they'll revert to normal business hours. I hope to be back in town by then to play a few more games and hang out with some peoples.
The place feels completely different. The ticket redemption counter is located immediately to your left as you enter the main entrance, and the food/cafe place is right next to it. The food court is pretty snazzy looking. All of the games are in the central area, and I haven't been outside to check the stuff out there (gokarts? lazer tag? they'll be making some additions soon), but the place itself feels really fresh and new, as it probably should.
You guys owe it to yourself to check it out.
They've scrapped the "funzone" area/concept though, so those ddr goths/skaters/etc. and youngins who used to crowd over near the bemanis are going to have to sit at the concession stand area and watch from afar, or else they'll be blocking traffic in the middle of the arcade where the ddr machines are. We'll see how well that'll work out for em.
Anyway, again, they are open til 8pm every day this week, until their grand opening.
You guys should check it out, and plug as many tokens into that IIDX machine as you can. :p
