I've looked up all the sources I can look up, and the only thing I found was that it was shortly released worldwide. With that piece of information, he says "Yes worldwide, meaning that there must've been a release of that in the USA."
Main question: Is it true that DDR 5th mix was released on PSX US?
I backed my reasoning up with research and logic in front of him, but he claims that he has played it at his friend's house. His friend does not have an imported PSX, and I asked him to take photos (front and back) to prove it.
We'll see where this goes.

It was given an Asia-wide release briefly, but that is all.
We went from Konamix (the 4th Mix interface) straight to DDRMAX.
There were PLANS to bring 5th Mix stateside at one point, with a varying songlist, and those plans fell through in lieu of releasing DDRMAX for the PS2, since the system was incredibly popular by that time.

But just to be safe, ask my58vw, official collector of BMS.

But just to be safe, ask my58vw, official collector of BMS. | Official? He'd need some kind of sanctioning from us to be considered the official collector here. Sure he has an impressive collection, but he's not the only person that collects. Nor is he the only person to have almost/all of the CS releases. I own all of them as well. Including the incredibly obscure stuff. Regardless, I commend him on his collection. Most people don't bother hunting it all down, it's nice to know that I'm not alone.
Either way, no DDR 5th Mix was never released in the US. The only commercially released PSX DDR games in the US are
Dance Dance Revolution
Dance Dance Revolution Konamix
Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix
There is also an INSANELY rare 4 song demo for Konamix that was on display in select EBGames locations before release. I have it laying around somewhere in a pile of random PSX demos I have, I've only ever heard of maybe 2 other people that got their hands on one.

Regardless, I think the question is answered and the thread can be closed.

I think I remember some of the menu music being different from the final version too. I think one part was some 5th mix menu music. I think Groove was one of the demo songs too.
Could you show us a pic of the front disk label by chance please? And what where the other songs on it?

Well, I'm in the middle of the class right now and he just told me that his friend NEVER told him that he had a mod-ship installed in the PS2. Wow. Thanks everybody!!!

I'll dig it up when I get a chance and add it to the game info database. I also have the OPM Demo with DDR MAX on it, the DDR MAX and DDR MAX 2 Demos and the Eye Toy demo disc with DDR Extreme on it. Groove was indeed on the demo, and so was Baby Baby Gimme Your Love. I can't remember the other 2 songs off hand.
