As long as you don't get a pad that ends in "-1000" "-2000" "-3000" etc. (I think it's the TX series, but I forget.) Then you're set.

Personally, Cobalt Flux.

Back when I ordered my pad, I heard Cobalt Fluxes were dropping in quality, so I bought a BlueShark. It's been very good to me so far, although the bar wasn't worth buying.

Yeah. My friend borrowed a metal pad from another person but the bar was all wobbly and not good at all. I don't use the bar though but my friend does. Its cheaper without the bar too so lucky me.

Cobalt Fluxes are HORRIBLE in terms of sensitivity all around the arrow. You HAVE to hit in a certain sweet spot in the middle of the arrow or it will register as a great, good, boo, or miss because of the way the sensors work

Blueshark is the most arcade like, and this is what I voted for. I haven't technically played on one, but you should be able to step anywhere on the panel and should register, provided its clean and all of the sensors are functioning. Many people have bought and liked this pad, however just about everyone agrees that the bar is not very good.

TXs generally tend to be a big no-no, but there are a few that have had success with them

RO Afterburners are recessed too much, I hear, and they break easily, but before they break they work well (again, going off of others' opinions, I have not played on one before)

haven't heard much about the nexen

ya... dont get the TX2000, I have it, it sucks, and you have to mod the pad to get it sensitive, and it breaks often. Go with a Blue Shark, or a Flux.

I have a CF and a Blueshark now, and I have to say, I've never been more impressed with the BS. I got the 3 inch bar model after playing on my buddy's 2inch nobar, and it's one of the closest things you'll get to arcade quality. The bar gets loose after a while and it's a little frustrating to re-bolt it, but at least they give a tool for it.

Because it's metal, it's really prone to getting dirty. Really prone.

The only thing I really didn't like about it was how my arrows aren't quite as recessed as I hoped. They recess when you press them, but they're nearly level with the outer panels normally. Little confusing to get used to. Another thing I've yet to solve is that two brackets on the inner edges of 2 of my panels don't fully go in because the metal from the center bracket is too close to the panel. It doesn't affect gameplay at all though.

the CF is also decent, it's thinner and actually can have recessed arrows with the arcade mod. Cleaning it is a lot more time consuming than the Blueshark though, as it uses sheet metal for sensors instead of switches like the BS. It gets gunked up really fast. It's probably more durable than the BS, though. I just have that feeling. Then again, I don't run cars over either of my DDR pads.

Hmm. Well how long do most metal pads last then? I have a Red Octane soft pad (Yeah, the old school one which they don't sell anymore) and it still works after 4 years suprisingly but now its starting to die off :sniff:. Before that I had a mymybox soft pad but that lasted me only a month.

i choose the CF. I use to have the old RO metalpad (the one before the afterburner). The arrows cracked within a week, and I didn't even play with shoes. I tried CFs in high school at a ddr club, and I really liked it. Very responsive. The edges are a bit sharp though. I sometimes had to carry the pads to another classroom, and I would get small cuts every once in awhile.

Umm...I have a Cobalt and the sensitivity is fine. You just gotta break it in a little. Now its almost too sensitive to the point where people cant step on the pad without it doing random stuff. I barely have to hit the panel now.

De-bowing the panels also improves sensitivity.

The only problem with the CF is the screws. The screws are just drilled straight into the wood. After taking the screws out or just after a long period of intense play, it the hole in the wood starts to wear out, making the screws pop up really easily. I have screws everywhere right now...

Some people have found ways to keep the panels done, with either the the lazy tape method or the harder method of just getting a long screw to go straight through and putting a nut on the other end to keep it tight. I was able to get a bigger sized screw to fit into the pad, so those screws are stable, but I dont have enough for the rest. Besides, theyre probably stripped beyond repair.

As for your poll, I dont have experience with all of the pads, so I cant answer it.
