Default Cobalt Flux--To mod or not to mod?

So I'm going to be buying a Cobalt Flux. In your opinion, is it worth the extra $25 to make 5 panels higher than the 4 panels you play on, "emulating an arcade experience"?

In my opinion, I'd think that if anything it'd be a hindrance, as I'm sure the majority of us drag our feet from arrow to arrow. As such, I can see very visible problems in dragging your feet across the center panel for crossovers if the center panel is raised higher than all the others.

Does anyone have any experience to share?

I don't have any experience, but..
No, don't bother. usually the only people that do that are the ones that have to have their CF feel as close to the arcade as possilbe. If you slide your feet around alot, don't bother. You might end up hurting yourself.

My flux works fine without the raised panels and so will yours.

I could never stand playing on my cobalt flux back when I bought it 5 years ago. DDR arcade pads were deeper than the supernova/ITG ones, so I was used to that.

If you are used to ITG pads than I see little reason to buy the mods.

The Chemist: Why couldn't you stand playing on the Flux? My friend also bought a Cobalt Flux and said that he never plays on his because of how it hurt to play it in socks.

Also, if you don't play on the Flux, which pad do you play on instead/would recommend? The first metal pad I bought was a Red Octane mat, which was really cool, but had like a year of life before I cracked the down arrow completely. Then I bought the majorly expensive $400 Blueshark with bar, and although playing with a bar was worth it, it pretty much forced you to play bar, since the panels are made of relatively thick plexiglass, which feel like they're absorbing your feet when you play, making it hard to step from panel to panel with ease. Also, it's easy to lose balance on that pad because of how thick the whole base is (I pretty much tip-toe when I play).

My friend has the Blade mat, and it's cheaper than some of the other mainstream metal mats.

As I said, I was used to deep ddr pads, and with the CF being so flat, I would constantly lose my footing, sometimes even falling off. If youre used to ITG and Supernova pads though, you shouldn't have any issues since they are pretty flat.

If I were to buy a home pad, I would buy a blueshark for 300-400 dollars.

It depends. If you want to be able to play well in the arcade, then get the mod. If you probably will rarely/never play DDR Arcade, then you don't NEED it. I would still get it though to be able to feel where you feet are.
