Default Cobalt Flux Repairs?

Alright, I remember there were some threads about this (like back on 6.0 ), but here's the thing. I just bought a used Cobalt Flux from my Fiance (she couldn't take it to College campus) and it seems that the down arrow doesn't always want to respond.

Now before I go tearing this thing apart- how should I go about checking it out? I don't want to go ripping it apart, because it seems like it's all glue'd together. IF I do need to, what do I need to clean or replace, or whatever?

The Cobalt Flux user's manual has some troubleshooting instructions.

if its anything like a TX2000, you can just re-solder the inside of the dance pad, if a wire got disconnected.

Unscrew all the panels and lift the top panel up slowly. the inner edge towards the center has the wire, you can see it through the cracks between arrow and center panel. If you see tons of black/purple gunk, it's definetly dirty. Get some water mixed with dish soap and some paper towels and carefully clean both panels.

Before you dry off the panels, check if the wire is broken/copper exposed. If so, you have a far more serious problem than the steel being too dirty. I don't have a clue as to how to fix the wire itself, but you might wanna email CF/Post on CF forums or wait till someone else posts here. If it doesn't work after cleaning it and the wire is fine, the C-Box might be weirded up. The C-box is piratically the one thing that goes wrong the most on a CF.

Careful screwing back up, as the screwholes aren't the straightest things ever drilled (seriously) and if you strip the holes you have another frustrating problem to deal with.

^ there is you answer, my TX2000 does the same thing sometimes, except the gunk is dirt and other crap from the bottom of your shoes. So just open it up, and see if there is anything that could cause the problem.
