Funny, Paranoia Gaydes, NoGO, And Trip Machine Penis are all 9's on heavy.

I got about 712,000 into Pluto Relinquish Oni my first time ever playing it last night.

It seems they called all the boss songs for Final Stage to be 9 footers, regardless of how difficult they actually are. Its like they didn't want us to be afraid to try them by lying about it, although the Groove Radar tells me otherwise. Usually songs that have Air stretched past the circle's edge is not a song I end up enjoying all that much ><

it's because they assign foot ratings before writing the charts, so someone who does not write the charts thinks "oh this should be a 9 on heavy" and then whoever writes the charts decides "lol no"

That's backwards ass way to do it. The person making the charts apparently doesn't know when to hold back when it comes to 9-footers and the guy who gives the OK on the charts is no better (or they're one and the same person) lol

At least DDR X and its expanded ranking system will help spread stretch out the 8-10s to 9-20s. That and we can finally start making our own edits again without requiring japanese DDR versions and PSX memory cards. *still has old faithful with all the DDR Extreme scores and edits on it*

Personally I don't like having the steps expanded. I like it up to tens. I don't like the 20 foot system.

If they start to change it now, they will just keep changing it. I think it was fine being up to ten. Good DDR players can know the level of difficulty of the song by the music and the how the radar looks. I don't need the steps expanded to tell me that.

Until we get songs like Sunkiss Drop, which not only has a misleading 7 rating, but the groove radar for it is pretty small, for a song with 420 steps at 185bpm. The Stream rating probably isn't that intimidating since its mostly just sets of 5 beats so the "streams" aren't all that long, just numerous; the hardest being near the end. Voltage is low as the steps are rather repetative with no real movement or change in steps whatsoever (until the end). Of course I guess we can blame Konami for screwing up the rating on this, but even so, anyone new or experienced to 7 footers couldn't imagine the steps, even with the groove radar in this case.

My post was directed more towards 9s and 10s. I personally don't usually play them, I like 7s and 8s because they are more fun. I am well aware of some issues with the ratings on a few of them. In general though, they do a good job with the radar. You can't go wrong by listening to the song and thinking about what they put in the song.

the problem is that two people listening to the same song (even if both of them are good stepwriters) could come up with completely different ideas of what the steps should be

Since I can't post up a link for my picture, I'll just tell you guys. I got a grade of AA in SUNRISE(JASON NEVINS CLUB MIX) OR (JASON NEVINS REMIX) with the ff modifiers:

Speed - X3
Arrow - NOTE
Difficulty - DIFFICULT

Score: 989, 820

This was my first highest score that I've received so far...

You were 1 step off of a AAA (needs 990,000 points for a non perfect combo AAA). Congrats, and keep it up AAAs are within your reach.

Going tomorrow, I hope I can get a nice score on Pluto WHICH IS FINALLY FINAL STAGE!
