Default Dance Dance Revolution/Dancing Stage SuperNOVA AC (Arcade)

This thread covers the ARCADE version of Dance Dance Revolution/Dancing Stage Supernova.

If you're looking for Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA US PS2 (the American home version), go here.

American SuperNOVA website
Europe SuperNOVA website
Japan SuperNOVA website

Features of the ARCADE VERSION of DDR/DS SuperNOVA:

- More than 300 songs (for the songlist, please visit the appropriate site linked above)
- Worldwide Internet ranking (for information on this, please visit the appropriate site linked above)
- Japan-only e-Amuse
- Play style modes: Single (1 player, 1 pad), Versus (2 players, 1 pad each), Doubles (1 player, 2 pads)
- Advanced play modes: Nonstop, Challenge, Battle
- Narrated Tutorial Mode for new players (spoken by Scotty D.)
- Use of the home version of SuperNOVA allows unique linking features with the arcade game!

CURRENT Information regarding SuperNOVA:

- Konami's appointed arcade distributor in the U.S., Betson, has sent out an updater for the game to fix bugs and sync issues.
- With that updater, a new boss song called Fascination ~eternal love mix was found to be a sort of alternate Extra Stage.
- The second global internet ranking has begun and will use the following courses: SuperNOVA, Boss Rush Episode I, and Naoki SuperNOVA Selection. These are all under Challenge Mode.

THREAD-SPECIFIC POINTERS
- We know about the sync problems. Stop complaining.
- Do not ask where the nearest SuperNOVA is at. Go to the appropriate Regional Forum to ask.
- Stop complaining about the lack of bg videos. You cannot turn off dancers. This is how Konami did things, so deal with it. Shut up already.

That feature just by itself looks so damn cool. They should have tried doing it with earlier versions, i think.

edit: wait nevermind there, i see what they are doing with it. still pretty cool though, but i'm guessing its not going to affect any ranking sites, correct?

Not really since the Internet ranking is only for certain Nonstop and Challenge courses and only for certain time periods; people will, however, continue to improve their scores long after the ranking period is over, and there's also scores for individual songs to account for.

This is the first worldwide release for DDR AC versions. Of course, the Extreme rankings were technically for Japan only, but we all know that didn't happen, heh.

Okay, so I went and bought the four "boss" songs in the home version. Here are the stepcharts we havent seen:

Chaos Oni double- plays like a 9 until the end. Decent chart.

Fascination Maxx Remix Oni Single- ...what? That's not a stepchart.
Oni double- Same bullshit as found in Expert double. Harder in some parts, easier in others.

Fascination Maxx Oni double- Has the same change-100-or-so-notes-and-copy-the-rest syndrome as Oni Single, except they changed more notes.

Healing-D-Vision Oni Double- The beginning is basically the same as Expert double. Then it's gallops out the ass. After the jumps, the steps that follow are on the line that separates doable from impossible. It'd be fun if it were the equivalent of 150-160 BPM. Oh, and no 1/12 notes, as is to be expected.

Supernova, both arcade and home version, is boring to me now. This is what I was waiting for, and now I'm kinda disappointed. Konami of Japan should seriously outsource all their step data creation work to the Ultramix 2-and-up team, because they do a great job with what they do.

This is the first time worldwide ranking for DDR was done with an internet connection and not passwords I think.

Guys...I was just thinking.

What if SuperNOVA CS was the key to unlocking SuperNOVA AC?

I mean, Link Mode + Exclusive Online Content...what if you could transfer the Online "content" to Link Mode, where basically it works like an eAmuse style unlock for the Arcade Machine. Plugging the card in would allow you to unlock those songs. Plus it'd give purpose to the online exclusive songs anyway (since, as far as we know, they're not available on SN CS outside Online Mode)

I know it sounds compeletely off the wall....but yeah. Just an idea.

I bet inserting the memory card into an AC machine and bringing it back home enables Link Mode on CS.

Most likely. Which kinda sucks considering the closest SuperNOVA AC to me is like...3 hours away and I kinda wanna take Edits and stuff there NOW instead of having to go, put my card in and wait until I come back the next time.

Actually, you're wrong. The SuperNOVA Dedicabs have a PlayStation 2 inside them.

True! our SN machine has a ps2 inside.

I also heard that the Japanese unlocked a J-pop style song on SuperNova AC. Can anyone confirm this??

Yes, it's old news. It's only there for a limited time too.
