I think I found the most idiotic thing bearing the DDR brand name. Something even more stupid than Starberry Shortcake DDR: Dance Dance Revolution: DVD Game
Developed By: Imagination
MSRP: $29.99
I found this little gem when game shopping at Best Buy yesterday. They were just putting it on the shelves as I walked by, so I took a look.
This is an "interactive" DDR "game" where you are "taught" how to "dance", or at least "play" DDR by this chick named Roxy. The goal is to follow the on screen instructions on the two dance mats provided in the package.
Of course the mats don't plug into anything, so the thing is just a friggin' video that assumes you're flailing around and not really accomplishing anything.
You just can't make this shit up.

I think Konami forgot the purpose of them adding BEGINNER MODE as a difficulty and LESSON MODE in the home versions. This DVD is just a waste of money. Period.

Period. | I think the most blame Konami can accept for THIS debacle is lending out the DDR brand to "Imagination" and letting them run with it. Notice how the Imagination logo is featured so prominently on the front of the box (upper-right corner), while the Konami logo is not?
So I'm blaming Imagination for showing a lack of...um...imagination.

Theres like no point in making this unless the consumer doesn't have either an xbox or ps2, which by this time most people have at one of them.

*stepping on DVD remote*
"Oh man, i'm tight!!!"...
Kind of like my friend who bought FF:Advent Children and tried to
"PLAY" it on his PS2...
"Oh man, look at me go!" | |

But still, I think it's kinda sad that they had to come out with this. I mean, what's the point of a nonconnectible dance mat. And the funny thing is, one of us will probably go over someone's house and find them with it and find out they're having the time of their lives with this, completly oblivious to the fact that you can just get the actual game.
Trust me, there are people out there who know nothing of DDR home games and will find this and be like. WOW THIS IS AT THE ARCADE! And have a blast. I'd love to meet someone like that with this DVD and just wake'em up to the real world.
... Wait, a strawberry shortcake DDR? You mean like the doll? I missed that one, what's that about?
OH! I got a great idea! DDR ON YOUR IPOD!! Perfect, huh?
Now you can download your favorite Dance Dance Revolution songs and steps from iTunes to your iPod and actually play them, not just listen... Yeah, I bet you it'll happen too.
:P

But wait. Then again, they do have those stand alone DDR games that have the dance pad hook straight up to the TV and you play like 30 songs straight of the TV. Now, THAT was a good idea.

what the hell. Guess they want to appeal to shadowers so much they made a game where you're told to do it =\
